IT'S BACK

Just got my F75 camo back for the 2nd round after updates, no paperwork for what was done but the circuit board must have been replaced. Now ser # 1/15 not 11/14. Should be good to go but will do some air tests later. Thanks Fisher, can't complain. Sent to them in Sep for check-up out of warranty and was repaired at no cost.

Sending mine back as soon as I can. Hope my all metal mode gets fixed. It will be awesome having both modes at 100%.

Will repost later today, still not getting but 8-9'' in am mode sens-99 on a nickel. Called Fisher and was told that air test is just to see if detector is working and that disc is more sensitive than am mode. Disc only getting 12'' bp sens-99 on a nickel, less than when I sent it back. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. They assured me this detector was checked and double checked before shipping back to me.

Dum de Dum Dum--
This is the city I work here-----
1.air test is JUST to see if detector IS working????????????
2.Disc. is MORE sensitive than AM????????????
3.Am I nuts??????????? I may be BUT----

I have seen it repeated several times. The Disc settings use a higher gain than the all metal - so you potentially get better depth. I hunt at a disc of about 6.

Air tests are like determining if a girl is a good kisser by puckering up at each other without making physical contact.

Or test driving a car inside the showroom.

They give some information but are pretty limited for worth - unless you go after flying coins.

i just sent mine back for the ma ma bug.they are giving me a new replacement..the one i sent in would hit a nickle at 16 inhes in bp/am/sens 80..so i'm hoping the new one will as well..

Air test between like machines, set up the same will give an exellent comparison between those 2 machines. I learned this trick from Charles Garrett in 1974 at the Garrett factory.

It compares how the detector reacts to an item with the field in a non-conductive medium (air). Put that object in soil and things are different.

Better than nothing but it's like stating the best golfer is the one who can hit the ball the furthest. Not always the case.

there are a ton of things that can adversely affect air-tests. Jewelry on your hands, wrists. EMI from numerous sources. Your GB number at the time of the air-test. Etc etc. EMI is the big killer though, and with the new DST software you may not be as aware of it as before.
Also, are you switching from Disc BP process to motion all metal before doing those tests? Not 100% sure, but I think that BP still carries over from Disk to all metal If you go to All Metal from BP process, just like it did before. If your going to AM from DE mode for example, AM wont be as hot as it will if going to AM from BP.
I virtually never use/do air-tests. I understand they can be a good benchmark for performance comparisons, but prefer to use my well aged test garden. Too many variables in air-tests, but my trusty well aged test garden is pretty much always the same.

I am in bp mode when I switch over to am mode. The dst don't do much, when air testing its pretty jumpy in both 9.0 and 9.1 so e.m.i is still there.

What sensitivity and are you indoors? bp is boost and amplifies all signals - good and bad.

Sens-99 outside, back of the house. Now my coil wire overlaps itself in a few spots on the rod, I leave it loose not rapped tight to the rod. I spoke to someone today from Fisher and told them when I first turned machine on and started air test I was getting 15'' on a nickel in disc then turned off to check if I was in 9.0 or 9.1 then started again and couldn't air test a nickel in either 9.0 or 9.1 over 12'' in disc. He said to try a factory reset. Will try this tonight and recheck targets. I can't see having this problem 2 times in a row.

NE Digger you put up a couple exellent reminders: to go from BP to AM and no jewelery on hands or arms.
The way I do is to use an all wood bench way down in the yard where there is little/no emi,set the detector/detectors to the area GB,make sure all settings are the same and use a yardstick with a coin holding notch cut in one end. This will give one comparative info on the detector/detectors you are using Detectors MUST be of same make, model etc. This test may or may Not correlate to ground tests, but is better than"I wunder whut". Good hunting.

I think they had to replace the whole Board with the new ones being put in the new F75 on the older F75. So really you got a New Detector. Just my thought

Alright here it goes, did a factory reset and detector was quiet while doing the air test which was nice in both 9.0 and 9.1. In disc bp sens-99 9.0 5c-15'' and in 9.1 13'', Am mode sens-99 bp carry over 9.0 5c- 11'', 9.1- 10''. It's nice and quiet but am mode still not as much pick-up. This may be normal.
