Nice post R-neck....
As a newbie myself I also owe a "thank you" to all those that have helped flatten my learning curve.
Trial and error is fine and dandy I guess, but to read all these posts from others for a couple hours and gain so much knowledge virtually overnight, really makes a beginner..., well..., less of a beginner.

Hay Red Neck Dude,

I started reading on this forum about a year ago.

In that year I discovered how to do what I only saw

in those treasure hunter magazines.

I thought it was just a hocks.

I never believed I could find gold jewelry.

Monte inspired me into learning how and

actually trying to do it.

It can be done. I have proved that.

I'm just a dumb old Arkie.

Happy Hunting,

Tabdog

you are quite welcome!..you can start by NOT callin' us OLD!..remember you are ONLY as old as you feel!..it does take time, and dedication, which you WILL pick up as long as you stay focused, and do NOT lose interest in all aspects of the hobby!..it CAN be a very rewarding hobby, however there will be times where you want to give up because you don't find much!..this is when you must "stay the course",and keep on "keepin' on!..best of luck!

sorry...to clarify i didn't mean old as in ''geezer'' i meant old as in experienced.....
pro's,knowing a lot........
my bad.....
sorry..no insult or slight intended....

kinda figured that!..but thanks for sayin' it anyway!..the hobby really is a learning experience no matter HOW much time ya got in the field!..i got 30 years and STILL learning things!..learning NEVER ends regardless of the endeavor!..

I've learned more about detecting after I thought I "Knew it all" than I had to that point, and I'm still picking up knowledge.

Hey we all started out the same way. We weren't born pro's. I've been at it 44 years, writing about it in treasure mags for 25 years plus doing field tests so I hope I have something to offer newbies.
