It's a fact. Junk rings ?

Hunters usually keep their junk rinks. And it's good to go back over and check them out again. Dug a ring couple weeks ago. Come out of the hole gold, lots of diamond chips. Nice, till I started rubbing the mud off. Gold glitter started coming off on my fingers. Went from high to discussed real quick. Threw it in the drawer. Days later, something about that ring was eating me.
Got it out, scraped off the fake gold. Put it under the loop, and bingo. 925. This has happened in my past, especially with small ear rings. They mark the gold on that very thin wire that goes through the ear. So, it couldn't hurt to recheck that junk drawer.

done the same thing myself, more than once!!

Great reminder...yes a guy keeps all those rings and whatnot...some of those tungsten junkers actually have a bit of value as well..if a guy can find a buyer!

Two years ago I found a mans ring with a single yellow stone. There were no markings on the ring and it was a little brighter than other gold rings I had seen. It didn't appear to be very well made so I took it home and put in the box with all my junk jewelry. A couple of months later I looked at it again and thought it was pretty heavy for a junk ring. I took it to a jewelry & coin shop to be checked and he immediately said that I had a gold ring and he thought it was 18K. Then he said let me check it on our machine. When he came back out he said it wasn't 18k but it was 22K. I could not believe it. I asked him about the lack of markings and he said that it was a custom made ring from some other part of the world. I don't remember the weight but it scrapped out at $240. He than gave me the stone (which I can't recall the name of) and said it was worth about $50. If there is any doubt definitely have them checked or buy a test kit.

Everyone have a great year detecting and check that jewelry!

Found a gold coin that I almost threw out.
I'm glad my wife was bored one evening and looked thru my finds cause it was almost a goner.
No idea what kind of coin and it was. It was on a chain. I've posted the pic on whatzit forums but no luck figuring out what it is.
I took it to a goldsmith to have it tested. 10gr and 10kt.
