Its 5 am................Any observations on depth of the F44?

Cant help with the 44 but if you are a serious hunter and have the patients to learn what the 70 has to offer you will probably be very happy with it. There is lots of info on this thread about them---------Hope this helps------IB

You mean it's 5am and you just got up?:sleepy:

 Good one Paul! :lmfao:

Since you like to sleep late Big ears, better get the 44...Most of us 70's are out and gone before the dawn, over the fence and down the road, pulling up silver, grabbing up gold, with sacks of loot and gold to boot by 8am!

I cant live without the 70's Delta Pitch tones...so thats the big thing for me that drives all decisions...gotta have full tones...and the 11"dd...

Perhaps you should post where you live and what your type of hunting will be? Somebody will be along shortly to assist..

I want either the F70 or the F44, so what say thee?

Why are you sleeping so late??????????? We 70 users are back home having breakfast, and counting our Silver finds by 5 AM..........

Post this same question around 3 AM and you'll get more answers.

I hit the floor every morning at 4, at work by 5, Sometimes people ask me to go fishing and ask if I can get up at 7 or is that too early! I work at a hospital. The sick are oblivious to the clock, unless the are really sick.

F44 and f70 are really in 2 different classes. F70 is higher performance machine for sure.

OK, cool! Thank you for clarifying that...I think you may have what it takes to run a 70!

Get up at 2am and hit it!...Avoid most fishermen and all golfers! Notoriously late, braggarts, cheats and lyers!... Stay out of Hospitals too..they are a breeding ground for lawyers, MRSA and C-Diff!...if you cant avoid the hospital, at least carry some sidecutters...for rings you know....Hey, it all adds up...

When you go hunting, wear your blues...nobody will hassle with you dressed like that! If questioned, you can always say you are looking for a tragically lopped off finger...

WE all sorta clowned around with your post......... Check both detectors closely.. pick the one that will do what you want it to do...

If you want coins, relics, and some beach hunting the 70 may be your choice. More needs to be known about the 44 abilities I do believe.........

Good luck with which ever detector you choose .........

I know.......and I enjoy the "clowning"..............now, there was this rabbi, Rachel Welch, and a metal detector sitting in a bar..............................

and-------and????????

Okay, now seriously.

I am biased towards the F70, I love the fact that Fisher was confidant enough to make a machine that the user has so much control over the primary elements.
The downside is, there is a learning curve. You can use it as a "turn on and go" machine. But you will be missing out on how it can be tuned into you specific conditions.
If you want a machine to grow into, to challenge you, to be easy to swing yet versatile for most conditions, the F70 is your machine.

I don't know a lot about the F44. I'm along the line that think it doesn't go far enough to be an ATP/ATG challenger.
But it sounds to be good for relic and coin hunting. And if those are your primary pursuits, it should do well for you.

I've been using it in the jewelry mode for the last week - no hits so far. Dug a penny this evening at about 8", but it rang up in the mid 60's which should have been a dime. Sand was still a bit wet and I was running sensitivity @ 16. (12 is normal).

By the way, I'm searching the Jersey Shore - lots of iron and mineralization in my area.

Newer wheats ring up same as copper memorials and clad dimes on most machines. The older ones drop down into high zinc range.

Having owned both machines, I can say that the 70 is probably a little deeper and faster, coil for coil. But the 44 has a lot of great features, such as iron volume and the custom mode, which allows you to assign a tone to each category. I wouldn't be ashamed to run the 44 as my main machine, and it's a great deal for the money. If I was looking at it from a financial standpoint, I'd think the the F44 would be a better value by far.

Thank you! :clapping: Where were all you 5 years ago? There was only like one oldish guy that believed in the F70. But he was crazy, he picked up all the pennies and wanted to use a small coil and run it at less than 50%. How ridiculous? Who would ever want to hunt like that? This has been going on for over a decade for this oldish guy. Always looking for a light, simple, fast, reliable, small coiled (not a hockey puck), adjustable, well balanced detector that could be used into the sunset of this oldish guys life. F70 fits not all that is needed by this oldish guy but it comes close. If the F70 would only suck the targets out of the ground? That's it!!! :yikes: Thanks for reading and Happy Trails.....Z

Yeah! Well, some of us have quite a bit of time on the 70, and the 44 is new, so theres that..let me address F70 durability/performance just for your interest..

The F70 has never once failed me...it runs forever on 4 AA's..like 40+hrs, mine lives out in my car year round. I have waded with it in Lake Michigan right up to the brainbox, hunted in the freezing winter snow, Summer heat and heavy rain with nothing but a small towel draped over the controls with no ill effect...Once, in a rainstorm, I bagged it with a baggie, and there was so much condensation in the screen, I got worried, so I popped the whole damn thing in the freezer and left it there overnight to get rid of the moisture! I even sawed the fins off the 11"dd just to go faster....it pays for itself a few times every year...clad, silver, bills, other finds along the way...wonderfully balanced, turn on and go...I turn it on and off probably an easy 15 times per day, ransacking fields and totters and such...I dont baby it and treat it pretty shamefully...its wicked fast and accurate...

Its hunted for me all over the Country, from the deep South, to the Far West...in all soil conditions and weather...Its a true joy to swing and deadly in some awful trashy places none dare to tread....you will wear out several sets of headphones and a few screwdrivers along the way...cant live without it...especially love the DP tones... I may sound a bit biased, but the F70 has certainly saved my life, got me up and outside hunting and looking forward to what tomorrow may bring...I believe Zeek would agree..He's 113yrs old!:lmfao:
