It was slim Pickings....but.....:cam:

There was 14k in those slim Pickings....Hit the Ocean first at about 4pm for LT. Wind was blowing the swell down but the surf was 5' so the wet sand would have to do(as usual). The pickings were slim, with only a few coins, a 50cal. bullet and a couple pieces of melted tin. Scored the ring in an area where the surf scoured the sand to expose the denser coarse sand and gravel layer. Also scored the nickles, one of the quarters and the car right in that area. Had the opportunity to meet a couple of other detectorists there that were working the dry stuff. Hit a N. Shore beach at 7pm for its low tide. Had the opportunity to meet another detectorist there. Got a quarter, a few pull tabs and a couple of Heiniken tops that initially sounded so good. Good targets were lacking so called that one a bit early. All in all a good day....

I was across the way from you last night at one beach and you could actually count the layers of hard packed sand that has moved in. Targets are extremely deep and scarce.

The NW wind last night really kicked the surf up this side. No going into the water. Plenty of small whitecaps and a stiff chop. I hunted a beach that I was not too familiar with. Sand seemed a bit soft near the waters edge so its a strong possibility. There certainly wasnt much in the way of good targets. Hope things turn around for you before the weekend is over.

Found it a few weeks ago when I got my first gold. Became my new mascot. I have to fight my 3 year old daughter for it when its time for pictures....

Thats how I know it's a baby jaguar. My three year old got one for her birthday last weekend. She loves it!

We were there till dark and the tide turned around. Waters were calm on our side with the NW winds buffeted by the hills. It is tough to try and water hunt with that "Long Island Sound Chop", they certainly are not like the rollers that you get on the ocean side. We were opposite from Plum Gut.
