Hello to All!
Last summer I travelled to Kiev, Ukraine, to visit my cousin and metal detect with my Minelab Explorer XS a little. I made a few treasure hunting trips in the region and, here, I'd like to show you a few pictures of finds from one very productive trip. A full story (with a total of 150 pictures!) and other stories from the trip can be read at my web site: http://metaldetectingworld.com/metaldetecting_medieval_market_p1.shtml I hope you enjoy it!
...My Kievan treasure hunting buddy Dimitry invited me to come to his home town Skvira for a weekend. Located 150 km south-west of Kiev, the city of Skvira was established in 1390 and was completely destroyed at the end of the 16th century and rebuilt later.
Earlier Dmitry described a fantastic site, 20 km away from Skvira, which he discovered not long ago. Most of his finds were iron relics dated back to 300 - 400 AD (Chernyakhov Culture) and 1100 - 1400 AD. Dimitry didn't spend a lot of time metal detecting at that location, so we decided to visit it again...
The following pictures show:
The site of Medieval Market Place - a small field along the riverbank, with big trees casting a pleasant shade.

This spot was a perfect place for hanging out and swimming during the summer. It offered a nice view onto the opposite riverbank.

A Silver Roman Coin, circa 330 AD

and the most remarkable find of all found at the spot - the tri-lobbed arrowhead of an armour-piercing type, made of a Bronze/Pewter alloy, and dated back to the...600 B.C.!!!

Can you believe that this relic is 2,600 years old?!
Happy Hunting!

Thats real detecting but some folks never get the chance.

I like the arrow head.

Well found and thanks for sharing you lovely finds.:thumbup:Jerry.

All 3 of those items are in exquisite shape and look almost new. Love the little pendant and the arrow head is very unique. Nice finds and good luck in you future hunts.

Sergei, fantastic stuff !

Boy,I can't imagine lifting something so old from the soil...

We don't find stuff like that down-under in the "new world."

# I guess that the oldest things we find are nuggets...
~ I'm not complaining though.

Sergie, I bet you can't wait to get back to that place eh!:jump:
