It Was A Great Day

Well that good day behind the CTX that I was looking for came today. I made 2 hunts with my hunting buddy. We hit 3 schools. 2 modern schools and 1 old school that is no longer being used. The 1st school, I pulled a couple of quarters, several dimes, and a few pennies. Of course I dug some trash at all places. The 2nd school, I pulled several quarters, a couple of dimes, and a couple of pennies. All total the hunt time at these 2 schools was about 2 1/2 hours... We didn't stay long at either place because the rain came in.

After the rain, we hit the 3rd school. It dates back to 1901. We've stopped by this school before and worked the back side. Today we worked the front side some. Both of us were using small coils to help pick through some of the trash. The targets were few. I think this school has been hunted. Anyway... After some swinging, I hit a really nice high tone that was deep... It was coming up in the silver range and I was half way expecting it to be a silver coin, but I was surprised by the Y.M.C.A necklace pendant. I've looked on the internet to see if I could find another one like it... No luck.. The next good tone I got was in the copper penny range, but deep. I wasn't really looking for nothing more than a copper. Well I was surprised when I pulled a 1935 Mercury from the hole. (Not sure why it didn't come up higher on the TID). I think I barely nicked the edge when digging. Oh well... It didn't hurt the beautiful appearance in my opinion. My hunting buddy though I found a million dollars when I realized what I had in my hand.... He came running over, looked at the Merc, then looked at me and called me a dog then walked off. A few inches from where I hit the Merc I got another good tone that was deep. It was coming up as a penny TID. Well this time I expected that maybe I would hit a double... NOPE... I hit a 1918 Wheat. Not bad.

We didn't hunt much longer because the Sketters were try to pack us away for supper. I picked up a couple more pennies and that was about it for the day... YEAH... I think it was a pretty good day. I was glad to see the CTX hit good pay dirt today... I was really needing a good hunt that hit silver. The war nickel the other week was good, but this was what I was really after.... l guess this was the ice breaker... at least I hope it was. Anyhow, That's my hunting story for Monday... It might not be much for some but it was great for me...

Thanks and HH

Looks like a great day to me!! Congrats!!! I really like the pendant and dime!

Hey Roland58.. Are you in the club over there in Tyler.

Nice hunt Bayou! Dang mosquitoes are already coming out here too..

The YMCA necklace pendant has a pat'ed date of 1897. I'm pretty sure it goes back that far too. I really like hitting finds like that then trying to get some history on them.
