It was a good week until...... Part 1 of 2

I had to make a trip to the Emergency Room yesterday with "Scoop Foot"!!! Too much scooping this past week has left me with one bad hoof. They x-rayed it and nothing is broken in there, but I must have strained or stretched something in ther cuz it hurt REALLY bad. I had to use a cane just to get in the door and then had to be wheeled around in a wheelchair for the exams. Oh the shame of it all!! BCM had to ferry me around to the ER and get my script filled and even fixed dinner for us. That's usually my job, but she stepped up and took care of me. I hope she decides to keep me!! But before that, it had been a great week. Monday was my "Nickles and Nitros" post and Tuesday I headed for a different swim beach to try my luck. I took one of my Excaliburs and the ATP with 5x8 coil rig and planned to hunt with both, just for a little diversity. I started out with the Excal and about an hour into the hunt, this young man came wading over and said he was a detectorist too. He introduced himself (Magnus) to me and I (BCD) to him and he said he was saving up for an AT Pro. I told him I had one over on the beach and asked if he would like to try it out. He happily accepted my offer and after a couple of minutes of instruction, he was off and swinging!! Here he is!!

Within just a few minutes, he had his first find, a nice little cat earring!! There's some irony in there somewhere, me being BCD and him finding a cat earring, or maybe not. Anyway, here's his find, sorry it's blurry.

He's going to be a good detectorist, cuz he hunted for a couple of hours while his siblings and other kids were playing. Most kids lose interest in just a few minutes but he was happy as a pig in slop while he had that ATP in his hands. I never did switch over to the ATP cuz by the time he had to quit hunting, I was pretty much done in. Here's the take for the day!!

The rings and earring are junkers, but rings nonetheless. I cleaned them up a little, just to give them a little dignity before I chunk 'em in with the rest of the junk jewelry.

On my way home, I have to pass one of my favorite BBQ joints, so since it was just a bit past noon, I just had to swing in and get me some great Texas pit BBQ. They just developed a sweet Chipotle sauce that was really good on the brisket. You may begin drooling now!!

Wednesday had me having to ferry on of my kitties over to the vet for a teeth cleaning and then babysiiting the drug crazed feline once she was released after her procedure. I don't know what they give them to put them under but she was bonkers for the rest of the day.

See next post "It was a good week until..........Part 2 of 2

Plantar fasciitis
Classification and external resources

Plantar fasciitis (PF) is a painful inflammatory process of the plantar fascia, the connective tissue on the sole (bottom surface) of the foot. It is often caused by overuse of the plantar fascia or arch tendon of the foot. It is a very common condition and can be difficult to treat if not looked after properly. Another common term for the affliction is "policeman's heel".[1]

[size=large]Very magnanimous of you to allow the future to learn the hobby from you. I really think it was great of you. And yes i would agree most kids would not have stayed. Those earrings probly nailed the door shut on him mding in the future. Hope you found a future buddy as you may need the younger help.

I had the same problem but no more...

Low top hard soled heavy duty scuba diving shoes solved the problem. You definitely need the protection on the bottom of your feet.
They sell them online from all the dive internet sites. They last forever and are a good investment. I added a picture of one type...

Most times I wear water boots, kinda similat to those but they go higher up your ankles and have zippers up the side and a velcro strap across the top. I didn't have them on Friday though and I think my foot got turned a couple of times and strained something in there. I'm 100% now, it went away just as sudden as it came. But there for a day or so, it was excruciating!!
