Which worked out well because I had another hour to 'play' after sunset and the Vision's backlight works great!!!

Depth isn't always the most important feature, although frequently asked about. Sometimes, those 'added benefits', like wireless headphones and backlight and illuminated buttons, and easy-to-adjust controls, and ....... Well, the Vision offers more than simply decent depth of detection. :)

:detecting:

While a very interesting and revolutionary new offering, I will still be deciding if it stays in my personal arsenal after a few months hunting renovation work, ghost towns, old-use parks and recreation sites, etc. It will take a LOT to make me bump an XL Pro or modified IDX Pro, and I might even just go with an MXT and XLT, also, and use these four for all the different types of tasks I have. :)

For some, a 'one-detector' choice is fine, but not for me. The Vision is certainly 'FUN' to use, and has some great features/functions, but I've been making some of my better finds this past month with a trusty 6000 Pro XL/XL Pro. maybe I'm just an old 'die hard?'

Monte,

You have a nack of focusing on the practical realities of artifact recovery, I hope you can continue to explore what the V "brings to the table". Clearly it represents a new milestone in user control. The question now is whether it also presents new possibilites in recovery.

I hunted the other evening and felt the same way about the display when it got dark. With my failing eyeballs it way easy to see. And the resolution enabled me to actually read what I was seeing. I still have a ways to interpret all the data though.

Monte,
As I read this thread I couldn't help but hear this little voice in my head repeat a lesson learned over the last few years of reading posts, "it is often the user who is most experienced with the particular detector who will get the best results" ... or something very close to that.
;-)

Looking forward to hearing more about what you find out and learn about the V3.
