I had my first negative encounter with a spectator. The weather has been so bad recently that when I was finally able to get out I went for it. Parks were all crowded as everybody must have cabin fever to some degree. I had lots of kids "helping" me all day long. It was quite fun until the final 10 minutes or so. The last place I stopped was packed with people and I should have passed it by. I was able to detect in only one small corner of the park but after an hour or so I was the only person left in sight. I branched out a bit and just as I was leaving a guy in a truck drove across the grass right up to me. I'll keep this brief. He kept telling me he "felt" that I should be doing something else with my spare time. He "felt" that I should leave. I told him, very nicely, that I didn't give a rat's behind about how he "felt" about what I did for relaxation. He then told me that I had been turned in to the president of the local soccer league. I answered that unless the president owned the park, I didn't particularly care how he "felt" either. The guy took several photos of me as I walked back to my truck. I will say this about the park. It used to be a nice park. Since the soccer league moved in, they cut down every tree, removed the play equipment, took out the baseball field, almost every square inch is playing surface. I can see how some zealous soccer dad would think the league owns the park. Fact is, it is still a public park, and that metal detecting is allowed there. Enough.
Loot was OK. Loads of quarters for a change. The rope bracelet is silver and weighs half a troy ounce. The ring is 10K gold plated. (I'll never find another gold ring it seems.) British 50P coin is cool. Rung up like a nickel. First ever crochet needle. I assume dropped by a soccer grandma. I guess I should report that to the president of the soccer league, but I'm not that kind of guy.
This is another GTI 2500 hunt. Naturally on the way home it rained again or I would have kept going.
AT-Pro is STILL in the shop. Almost 2 weeks. I'm starting to get antsy about that.
