Some folks buy a detector and turn right around and it's on the chopping block for sale a few days later.
Don't get me wrong, I know there are folks out there who just buy detectors to try them, and then turn them over right away, what gets me is how they can tell so quickly that a detector isn't what they are looking for.
I know myself, It takes a long time to find my ear with any detector, to know those sweet sounds it makes when there is something I need to dig.
Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not trying to start anything here, if anything I guess I wish I had the ability to make a jugement on a detector that quick. I guess if I did I would use it like the discrimination on a new detector, sparringly.

Anyone who has several years experience using different detectors can make an accurate assessment of the capabilities of a detector within a couple of hours of use. Granted, the longer someone uses a detector the more they learn about getting maximum performance from it but if the capabilities for outstanding performance is there an experienced user will know it within a short time. As Mr. Bill said, "it ain't rocket science".

NOT ROCKET SCIENCE! Ok, I will give you that. That it's not. <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">

I agree with you JB but Ill tell you theres been a couple of machines I just have the hardest time deciding if I want to keep them or not. I wish(doesnt everyone) I could take some features off one and put them on another and have just what I like. It would be great if we could order them like american cars just the way we want em.
example: I wish the Tejon had a non motion VCO metal mode versus the motion one its got. And I wish it were one single 9 volt battery making it even lighter. I wouldnt care if I had to change the battery more often. Also Id like to see a nice small DD coil like the 4x6 the MXT has for the Tejon.
Then it would be about perfect for my hunting.

But like Neil says, there are some of them that you can't help but wonder if you really like 'em or really hate 'em. Those usually get a little longer workout......
