Started to hunt another sports field, however, the second generation of mosquitoes were literally in my face, beside my face, in my hair and in my nose. All the DEET in the world wouldn't get rid of them. They weren't biting, just super annoying. So, after about a half hour, I shifted gears and headed to a nearby watering hole. The finds were few, however, a nice gold ring with 5 x ice cubes showed up in my water scoop. The VDI numbers was about 55, same as a pull tab. So.......if you notch out pull tabs, :nono: you would have missed this beauty.

NICE ring!!! "Golden" Rule....lol.....Never..ever...notch out pull tabs unless you are wanting to notch out gold. Now the "other" guy on the beach can notch out those pesky pull tabs...I'll just detect behind him incase there is any gold he missed

Great find!!! Hearing these stories of finding GOLD with pull tab readings keeps me digging those dang pull tabs

Thanks John; excellent find and post. I wish everyone who posts would pass on what their machine was telling them. We can all learn more. I used my AT Pro in the water for the first time last week for about an hour in a 200 sq ft area. I was in Pro Coins and only dug the 70's and came away with about 12 pennies and two dimes. If I remember right, there's a notch in coins at about 50 so I think I'll go back and try custom and dig those 50's.

Pro Zero might be better. You can discrim out up to 40 then go one notch more if you want. I have dug gold from 45 to 70. Love that Pro. It is a coin and jewelry magnet. I have the most trouble with nickles. That is only because I'm not very patient. I dig all 49,50, 51, 52,53-99. I know that 99 times out of 100 53 -55 will be a pull tab, But I dug a 14K women's wedding band last week in right field at a solid 55. Go figure.

Thanks for Reading and Happy Hunting
