It Pays Off To Return To Sites

John M (Ct)

Well some times it pays to return. We hit a small home site that we did earlier this spring.I decided to detect in front of the house and go slow.I covered an area about 20'x 60' with good overlapping swings and came away with 5 keepers.First good hit was a King George II Halfpenny at 6 1/2",still trying to raise the date.Next a small button then a Colonial flat button turned into a "wizzer".This is my only large flat button that has a design on it but is unique in that it was turned into a toy.My next two finds were 1817 & 1839 Large Cents. The grass is getting tall and I will have to wait until it has been hayed to hit it one more time.

Take care, John

At first I didn't know what I had. When I was cleaning it I knew I had a flat button. Then I noticed the design on it and got upset with the modification. It was like a kick in the head when it dawned on me that it was made into a toy and was special.I now consider it the best find of the day.
