It Must Be The Year Of The Barber

Went out for a couple hours today.Hunted a park in town but didn't do much so moved to another one and got a sweet 10-46/48 at 7 inch's.The sound was not blaring but was solid both ways.I dug what I would measure to 8 inch's and out comes my third Barber Quarter in the last two weeks.I'm wondering if I need to set the volume gain up as the sound was not very loud. What settings for volume gain are you guy's and gal's using to get a good volume on deeper signals? I haven't installed the emulator yet but will tomorrow so may start changing things around. Also got a 42 merc and 3 wheat pennies along with about 15 newer clad coins.I must say that I do think the vdi is rock solid so far and will need a shovel if it gets to much deeper. nice one, two actually how come we dont make coins like that anymore

I have my Gain at 26 and I get good volume on the deep ones yet I am still getting some modulation so I can tell when a deep target is under the coil.

I agree with you....I have found 2 Barber quarters in the past 2 weeks

I run my gain at 15 - I really like to hear the difference in the volume of the deep stuff - I find I can ignore the shallow, loud stuff when I'm hunting older areas (especially screw caps that come in like Indians - but are 3 - 4 inches shallower).
