It May Not Be A Big Deal To Some....,

but is is to me. I sent Whites an email requesting a price on a "loop jack" for my MXT Pro and shipping cost. I want to use it for my spare coil connection when not in use and transporting, ( I know a balloon works, but I wanted to go this way, thank you ). Todd replied and ask for my address and said he would send one at no cost.

I know it may not be a big deal to some but it is to me. He did not have to do that and it is the point of the thing. This is the second time something like this has happened. I called an ordered an upper rod for my MXT Pro which is flat black. When the order arrived, there were two upper rods, one flat black and one gloss....guess they wanted to be sure I got the right one. I was only charged for one upper rod.

Just wanted to give credit where it's due.

It is a big deal! Not many companies are customer friendly anymore so Whites stands out. A few years ago I sent my bullseye pin pointer in for repairs (the first model) out of warranty. And about a week later I received an email that said" We are sorry but your bullseye is beyond repair, you will receive your package in a few days. I thought oh well at least I tried to get it fixed and figured I would buy another one, a few days later I received a package from Whites and inside was a brand new Bullseye II pin pointer. I don't think you will get that service from any other company.

Their customer service really is unbelievable . . .great story.

I didnt get that great customer service, I bought a d2 coil back 2 years ago right when whites was getting every other one sent back because they were failing, 1st I was told 2 year warranty just send it in, so I called the dealer I bought it from and he said theres only a 1 year warranty on coils bought not on a detector. I paid $240 for this coil and did not use it very much as I liked the 6x10 better, I dont normaly expect things to be replaced after the warranty runs out but in this case with all the bad 10"d2 coils that whites was replaceing that they would of did more as these coils were just a problem from day 1, The best I got was my local dealer said he had one in dtock I could buy another, when I called whites all they did was confirm there was a 1 year warranty, did not say send it in let us take a look at it, so now I didnt have a coil for deep coin hunting and fed up with the run around i got I bought a etrac, I will not part with my trusty mxt but did not want to buy another 10"d2 coil on a detector or not.

I live close to the factory-only about a hundred miles away. These people at White's offered anyone that is in the area the opportunity to go to the factory with your detector and fix the problem. My brother in law came up from Texas on a visit and asked if I would go to the factory with him. His detector was long out of date, but they fixed it for nothing! I was not at the time into metal detecting as I had no Pryor experience doing it. While there, we had the chance to try out some of the detectors. Great people to talk with. As a surprise for my birthday before Christmas, my sister bought me an MXT PRO. I am still learning this machine and when I can get out, I do. This company is a very rare one that bends over as far as they can to do what is correct. I hope they stay in America as so many have moved offshore. Marv

1 - Since they told you to send it in - why didn't you send it in? Knowing White's history, you probably would have received a new coil (even if it was out of warranty).
2 - What made you think that your coil was bad? The problem with the D2 coils was in regards to it's operation on the V3i.
3 - The D2 coils were not a problem from day 1 - again the issue was in regards to operation on the V3i not the MXT, DFX or M6.
4 - Others may have had a problem with their coil but that doesn't mean that every single D2 coil ever made needed to be replaced.
Now, yes there were a few bad coils but what issues did you experience with your D2 that led you to believe it was a bad coil other than "when White's was getting every other one sent back because they were failing"?

I always tell the customer, you'll never know if you don't try.
Just sayin'..........Andrea

The people that told me to send it in were forum members on the whites forum, whites never said send it in lets take a look. tT he coil got very unstable, you could point it out away from everything and it will just vdi bounce all around and only when you turn gain down to 2 would it come down. Wrong, I followed the whites detectors for years, I think the d2 came out before the spectra, guys like me with mxt bought them, some people sent 2 or 3 back. And no its not the detector thats bad, I have other coils that work normal.

Hey mike4663. I think the problem is that you only went back to the dealer and didn't go directly to Whites from what you said. The dealer is just going by the book, which he probably has to. Whites doesn't appear to have any "set" rules regarding warranties, etc. so giving them a call couldn't hurt. I bought a nearly new D2 from a forum member here about 1-1/2 years ago. After awhile the coil started behaving badly and after a call to Todd @ Whites I sent it in to be checked as suggested by him. Whites tested the coil, found it to be bad and sent me a brand new D2. No questions, no hassles just the shipping to get it there. Give it a try . . .I expect you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Just wanted to say that am using my new " loop jack" on the coil not in use and like this method so much that it is the only way I will go on any spare coils I purchase I the future.

I've been swinging a White's since the 70's & I've always heard how great their service after the sale was! Funny thing, after 4 or 5 machines & soon to be another, I've NEVER needed to have a unit serviced! Now THAT says it all about White's detectors! (I've at least spoken to Todd. He IS a great guy!!)

Hi,

I am a newbie and I am not familiar with a loop jack. I did a search but didn't get any hits (which is strange because I know it is in this thread). Anyway, can someone tell me what a loop jack is?

Thanks,

I'm a little late on this subject but heres my experience with White's service.
I sent in my Vision already updated to V3i, back in Jan. 2011 still under warranty until April 2011, for a 'health check'.
The service dept. checked it out, no issues, and to my suprise sent me a brand new 10" DD coil.
To say that I was a satisfied customer, is an under-statement.
Oh,and the turn around was a total of 5 days.

That's why I keep coming back to White's after all these years! By the way, I've owned 5 or 6 White's units over the years and have NEVER had a repair issue!! ZERO in almost 35 years!! (Hope I didn't just jinx myself!!) :pulltab:

Hey PP, when I read this post I thought the same thing.....hope you don't regret making tht statement. However, if a dark cloud comes over you, I'm certain Whites' will make it shine.
