It looks like Saturdays hunt is washed out.:usan:

Just had a look at the river flowing past the end of our street (the Macquarie). It's now in flood and has just covered one of 2 bridges in town. This bridge is the main road from Melbourne to Brisbane.:ausflag: near it, is my favourite spot which has a regular market. Unfortunately, the site in question is starting to go under as well. And to think that a Christmas festival was to be held there as well. Speaking of the one that got away. There will literally have fish swimming over it for the next little while. The dam down steam of here hold 4 times the volume of Sydney harbour when it's at a 100% (of irrigation needs for 12 months) is now at 140%!, filling up 30% in the last 24 hours. It goes over the top at around 148%. Things will get interesting. Although there will bill no major problems here, there is major flooding to occur downstream. Work is shut down for 4 days, so I'll be able to get a couple of hunts in at least, if it doesn't rain.
I did manage a quick hunt in Sydney at the week end which netted $22 in modern stuff and a Chinese coin that is dated 1722 to 1735. My oldest coin find to date and it predates white settlement by 60 years! (I wasn't using my Garrett machine though. I did use the Pro pointer to find it though.)

Too bad for the flooding. You could always come over to my neck of the woods and hunt snow hills. Hey.....that old coin you dug is really cool. Any chance of a pic?

Sorry I took so long John, but I'm trying to figure out a new computer. i finally got it, but I'm not sure how.

I'd hate to be drivin' down that street John. I guess it has a no right turn!:heh: BTW. my favourite spot is now 6 foot under water! I haven't been to work since last Wednesday, but will be going tomorrow. Maybe I should own an AT Pro so that I can hunt there! Might need SUBA gear as well.

hi Mick,, cool old coin,,, found one about the same age here in my own yard,,, know what you mean about the rain and floods,, we are high and dry in our town but alot of places near here are drowned,,it it almost our wettest year in history with heaps of old records being broken every day including the coolest November on average ever,,, not getting much swinging in as it seems to rain when ever I am not at work,,, and one of my old pub sites has had about 12 feet of water over it,,,,am going to the coast in 2 weeks so hope to hit the beach and some schools while we are there,,, wish we had an At Pro though the rain would not be so much of an issue,

cheers Roger

It sure is wet Whadda. Glad to here you are dry. waters are receeding at the moment. only a couple of feet though. We are expecting even higher flood levels on Friday. We are having a meeting with the boss tomorrow. I wouldn't be surprised if he says that he'll be shutting down for a few weeks, as he'll be having a difficult time getting livestock.
