I just bought a hundred pounds of sunflower seeds to feed the birds this year and it cost me a heck of a lot more than last year. I saw on the web that one of the big reasons is that a lot of fields that were in sunflowers are now being planted with crops that is used for biofuels. This is just the tip of the iceburg for sure. A lot of products depend on corn and it is being diverted, good for the farmer but it sucks for the consumer
