I made it to the beach before 7:00 AM. I will only be able to do this for two move weeks before I move north. I am trying to force myself to get tried of going to the beach so I won't miss it. It is not working. I did a quick look at the ocean before I got the detector out of the car.

The sun was coming up fast.

The conditions were not that good for MDing. Tide was right, but the waves were calm and no cuts in the sand. I still like being on the beach in the morning. It made as much since as her trying to surf on a calm morning.

I found some critters on the beach.

I took over a 100 pictures and did a little MDing. I left the beach after 2 hours and went to Lk. Helen to MD some of my favorite dirt roads.

I always get something unique there. Now I wonder what this tiny 3 legged brass cup like thing is? There isn't any writing on it.

You'll never get that ocean out of your blood and will miss it forever. I still miss it from living in Southern California. Here it's about an hour drive to the beach but it ain't quite the same beach although Oregon has one of the most beautiful coast lines in the U.S.. I haven't been to it in some time but got to get back down there.

Hey John: I am in to NASCAR; it's my other great love in addition to MDing. Been to quite a few races at Kansas Speedway and also once at Michigan. So needless to say, life began again with two great races at Daytona Intl yesterday.

Thank goodness, though, it's not for everyone. Good tickets are tough to find. :look:

Great set of photos; I'm sure you're going to miss the beach :(

My ex-brother in law is the photo editor for the top nascar racing magazines. He lives in Concord NC. He would drive me around to all the driver's shops and ask me if I wanted to go in. I always said no. He could get me into the tracks for free and I always said no thank you. He and Kyle Petty ride bikes together. The driver's know my sister and him by their first name. My sister would sit with the driver's wife's during the races. I would hear the inside stories on the driver's long before the news hit the media. His boss dated Bill Elliott and later married him. That is how he got the photo editor's job. He would give my son all kinds of racing memorabilia. My son even has Harry Gant's (how ever you spell his name) Harley boots.

I am into nature. Race car all the noise and smoke is not my thing.

I grew up on Long Island, and we had the most beautiful sandy beaches on the south shore, and majestic bluffs on the north shore. No matter where you live on LI, the beaches are never more than a 20 minute ride.

I now live an hour away from Atlantic City NJ, and the beaches here are no comparison to the shores of Long Island.

Someday I hope to return.

Good Luck with your move!

You are so right, John, that would be awesome to have a connection like that. But you are correct about the noise factor; Those cars are loud and anyone who attends a race without ear protection is a fool :sadwalk:

But in addition to being a race fan, and a lover of the noise , when it comes to MDing, I look for isolated, wooded areas where there's peace and quiet.

Good Luck with your move north; West Virginia, right??
Is that at Ontario?

Bill
It's in Ontario where the old steel plant was, about a half mile form the old Ontario Motor Speedway.
