Thought I had a cannon ball at first but it is to thin brass.
It has what looks like a bore man style fuse.
Could it be one of them torches they use to put on the side of the road a long time ago? but were they made of solid brass?
Anyone seen one?
Found on old plantation site with Civil war activity.

Looks like a SMUDGE-POT used in orchards when an early frost came. It is not a baracade flare, They were made in 2 sections with a seam around thr middle, and a rain cover over the wick.
