Since I got the Silver UMax named SIR...All good..Had a lot of fun with it, found some interesting items..Ran into Dan Brown who just bought a Gold UMax, that found an arrowhead first time out?????????..Dave J, pulled a dirty trick by selling me his Vaquero..That is not an old man's detector..It makes you dig DEEP holes, and meet your Chinese neighbors. At first, it intimidated me. THEN, I got the ground balance sorted out...Put a cent on the ground, and think the distance was in the 13 to 14 inch range.Couldn't be ...Right after Dan found the dime, the Vaquero, who had been mumbling. " Beginner's Luck", popped a signal, and about nine inches down, a small silver flag ring was hiding. that couldn't be that deep either....I am going out with the 3 by 18 coil next week to a soccer field..Still have to chase the yards...None of the houses were built in the 1900's...And, some relic hunting..There is a Hopewell village site within walking distance, and copper.....If I find coins , will know it is the spot. According to a map, an1800's baseball field smack dab in the middle...A silly looking little metal detector, that just knew how to create serious fun ..Cordially NAD

Hey ... if that is Hopewell village in PA ... that's not far from where I was in my high school days back in the early 70's. Last time I drove through that area about 4 years ago, it was still fairly rural and still very pretty country side.

Enjoy the hunting!

Glad you are gettin familiar with your V.

A lot of people are so intimidated that

they give up.

That's a shame because they are great

fun to detect with.

After going through lots of frustration with

mid range TID machines, the Cibola seemed

like a dream machine to me.

That's why I have 5 Tesoro'es now.

Each one has it's own personality, but they

all have good, fun performance and the light

weight that has spoiled me.

Happy Huntin,

Tbadog

Golly - I see Old Nad is still moanin' about my 1943 Merc dime in very good to fine condition ! Oh yeah - did he tell anyone about the beautiful arrowhead that I found about 6 inches from the dime ? I never did find what it was that caused the hit, but the arrowhead was on top of it.:beers::beers: Does anyone know where to find metal detector GRAPHICS ?

Lovely arrowhead..I'll get an expert to identify it for you..I did check out the spot, and the target was all of 12 inches down...Enjoy that good feeling, there is more to come.Just got permission for one place we need to hit. I did a TV spot for a museum this morning and the head of the museum is going to get me permission to go where I've been turned down..Also, am going to do his front yard , and the museum yard which has been hunted over..But,not quite. And, I got a note from a person who told me where an Indian burial site was located, with copper and stone artifacts. It was dug by accident by a construction worker , He recovered it with dirt.,and planted a hawthorn tree . The Vaquero confirmed metal ...Really cold today, the note made a minor addition to heating the house.. So Dan, stop using the word "old". Your are only 74,..I am going to run your hind end into the ground hunting stuff. And, if the going gets too rough, we can always take naps in shifts. That way we don't miss a beat or a BEEP, cordially Nad

that vaquero sounds like a great machine i thought only a minelab could reach those depths i wish i could get one good finds to you nad

The Vaq is definetly a deep machine. When I used my ace machine I only used a trowel to dig. After getting a vaq. I had to start using my modified shovel. I Only use the trowel on manicured turf.
