Ist hunt of the year

I finally got out Saturday afternoon and couldn't go to the place I intended to and went to the river. I hunted on land in a real trashy area, but was just too lazy or tired to change to the 5 X 8 coil. I believe I found a silver roosevelt dime, but lost it because I either dropped it putting it into my pouch with gloves on or the small hole in my finds pouch let it fall out. I found 10 pennies, 2 dimes and 1 quarter. At least that's what I came home with. Way too much trash and it had been so long since I went detecting, I dug a lot of targets I probably shouldn't have. Just when the picnic tables were showing coins, a neighbor at the river came and talked to me the last hour I was there. He has helped me out before and I enjoy talking to him. The bottle caps sure sound off different on land than they do in the water.
I thought I had found a small chain, but it was a paper clip and it drove me crazy. Found a little RV with a horse on the side. The oldest clad coin I found was the 1972 quarter. Hope I can do some water hunting this week. I'm pretty sore from working on land.

Not bad for first hunt, sorry about the rosey you may have lost. Time to get a new pouch . I see gold rings in the future if you keep diggin like you did there. HH , GS

Glad you got out! Nice looking stack, and I agree with Groundscanner...you will have a great year for gold finds I'm thinking..

Nice fongu!! :clapping: Agreed, consider getting a new pouch. To bad the horse RV didn't have a door, you could've put the silver dime in there for safe keeping.:bouncy: Next time it'll be a gold chain:angel:

I see you are trying to find some gold! You got paid a little for your efforts. Beats sitting in front of the TV getting brain pollution. Good luck on your next find!

Thanks. I had hoped to go today, but maybe tomorrow. I will be water hunting next time I go and try out my scoop and see if I did a good job with the hardware cloth.

Congrats on getting out and enjoying a hunt while many are still getting slammed with snow and ice. Hope you are able to get in the water soon and go for the gold!

I've been trying to get to the water all this week except Monday, but looks like Saturday will be my best day. HH. Anyday dirt fishing is a good day. If you find gold and silver, it's just that much better.

Thanks Leslie. Been trying to get back to the river, but just can't make it. Gonna go detect our old church grounds this afternoon for a couple hours.

Next time use the 5x8. My best finds have been found with it, as a matter of fact i have not put the stock coil on for a over a year.

I had it with me, but didn't feel like changing it out. Lazy or tired or both. I hoped to hit the river today, but tomorrow looks like a better day for me. I use the stock coil in the water, but on land and around the picnic tables I will use the 5 X 8 from now on or the sniper on my GTI-2500.
