Couldn't take it any more. Have had company since the 27th of December. They decided to go for breakfast this morning and I begged off. As soon as they left I grabbed my X-70 and headed to a small tot-lot close by. Nothing but clad but not bad for 1 hour.

Looks like a good hunt to me! The 1/2 dollars of any kind are hard to find. Nice job on getting out, Beale.

OK so im kinda new to this and not familiar with all the jargon that goes with so without laughing at me at least not out loud lol what is clad?? also wondering where to find info as far as what coins are what... ex: the older dimes being silver and ... thanks just trying to keep up here you have a great day.

Ps: im jealous you get to hunt her we are under 1 1/2 foot of snow and its damn cold ground is like cement (minnesota)

Clad coins -- those coins created since 1964 that have no real value in them (non-precious metal is all they are) Usually a mixture of metals around a copper core. Wait until you find a penny minted after 1982 (nothing but a copper sheen on pennies since that time and the penny's zinc has started to melt away).

LOL -- laugh out loud.

Silver coins -- all produced prior to 1964 (inclusive of 1964) -- half dollars, dollars, quarters, dimes. War nickels produced during WWII had silver in them -- 1942 - 1945.

Gold coins -- circulation minted from 1800's through 1932. 2 1/2 dollar (quarter eagle). 5 dollar (half eagle). 10 dollar (eagle) and 20 dollar (double eagle). Hard to come by but they are out there.

Get the Red Book on coin values for 2009. Give you an idea of what coins were produced when, mintages, etc. Plus an idea of the value of the coins.
