issues with v3i and 15x12sef

I was wondering if anyone has run into an issue like this before I have been using a whites V3I for about a year now and I purchased the 15x12 sef coil in October. I usually do most my searching in the relic setting and everything was working great for several outings until something happened. It had been visiting a site with large amount of dimes and quarters in the ground the type of place where at least every minute or so you had another target to dig but quite a bit of time went by without a good target and then eventually I realized it would not pick up quarters or dimes and wouldn't register anything higher than 40s 50s. So I packed up and went home and tried testing it and it worked. So a few days later with a charged battery I went back out and it started out fine and the same thing happened . since that time I put the double d back on to see if that did the same thing but weather and time has not been on my side yet. If anyone has any ideas or have ran into this before id be grateful thanks to however answers

Yep I had an SEF fail like that and it made me so mad. I took it home and took that box connector apart on the coil wire and found that the signal and ground wires where sometimes touching making the detector not register things and go crazy. I pried the wires apart and used more hot glue on them and put it all back together. Been fixed for over a year now.

I also had them go bad with null shifting from them getting hot, I let it cool off and go back to hunting. Real touchy coils that work great when they do.

I had to do the same as Burlbark with a 5" DeTech coil.

My 10x12 sef coil had a similar problem a week ago, it would n't pick up anything but cold rocks and cans at 2''. So I shifted to the 10dd and everything was fine. Tried it back again and no response on coins at any range. So a couple of days after I tried it again and it is fine since then. I bought this coil last December. Any ideas about this effect I would really appreciate. Thanks.

Burbark gave the answer, the wires touch in the connector. It's an easy fix.
