Issues with coinmaster 6 d/b

Hi,l picked this Whites Coinmaster 6 d/b detector up the other day but are having problems getting it going. The main issue is when l put in new batteries the only thing that works is when you move the dial that checks battery life the meter needle moves to 80-90 %,so l know the batteries are ok but when l turn if back to on, nothing happens. No volume,if l wave it over metal,no sound or registering on the meter. Not sure if its the coil or something in the circuit board.l have had the a look at the circuit board and nothing looks burnt out and theres no loose wires.

Just wondering if anybody has any suggestions, cheers Rod.

Don't know how much you paid for it, but you can send it to Whites and have it repaired. Mary, at the Sweet Home location told me, "it costs between $50.00-$140.00 to have any Whites repaired, "no matter whats wrong with it".
Its a pretty cheap call to check it out through them.
Here is the address and phone number, give Mary a call.

White's Electronics
1011 Pleasant Valley Rd
Sweet Home, OR 97386
(541) 367-6121

Good luck, I hope you can get it repaired and still have fair money in it !

Also, she said they will repair (Whites) coils for $25.00 plus return shipping.

Keep us posted on how it turns out.

Hey Rod
I am new this hobby and forum and found your post and I am having the same problem
I just acquired a 6000 di series 3 and there seems to be a problem with the power supply. Not sure if its in the batt pack itself or in the mode switch, but when I. Shake it a little or press the coil on the ground wiggle things a bit it comes back. I ordered a new batt pack today since that is my gut feeling on the problem. I too did not see anything obvious on the circuit board, but it sure acts like a loose connection somewhere.
Good luck and keep us posted
Mike

The series3 has two stacked PC boards and the contacts between the boards can be a problem. They can be slid apart and cleaned. I have one that I don't use and they go for about $100.

Cool,
Thanks for the tip. I noticed the stacked boards but didn't think much about it. I will look a little closer
