Which Gray Ghosts? Should use the Amphibians other will probably have a low sound level.
Wiring needs to be correct, see:

There is a compatibility switch on many headphones and it has to be switched to either mono or Stereo in order to work, so try that first if it has the switch. Now another thing that can happen is they work on one detector and not another and the compatibility's switch don't make a difference is because there is a broken wire in the headphone cable and will have to be sent in to have it repaired.
Try a different set of headphones and see what happens. seen a broken wire on many that has this problem if the switch is tried both in mono and stereo, but still works on your other detector.

Charles..... are you sure the phones are stereo? I use a MONO adaptor for both my phones one with piezo..... the others with audiosear speakers. The guy in Calf who makes some also uses MONO jacks. But then these are wired phones im talking about. The CTX requires 3 pins be used to get the proper sound...... not so on just any phones. Ricks right about Have you tried using them with the WM wireless?

Ok try a few things and nothing started looking around the house found some adapters so now it working but well.......

Lol I thought Greyghost NDT were high quality headphones?? LoL

A bit ironic that Minelab doesn't seem to hear us about headphones. Why can't they use industry standards? Heck, why can't they use their OWN standards???????
I loved my Excaliburs all I needed to do is upgrade the shafts, headphones and batteries- but hey, they are only $1,500 what do you expect?
My CTX didn't require all that although the Minelab waterproof headphones were junk, but what's $150 after $2,500?
Then we have the Equinox at $900, I still needed to get aftermarket waterproof headphones, but I learned not to waste the $150 on Minelabs still junk ones.
And now the 3 Excals and CTX are dusty back ups to the 'Nox. Progress, baby!

I have to say it would have been nice had they used the CTX connector...... after all they used it on the coils. Many of us had modified our Xcals (more than one) and CTX so we could use our phones on both machines. The WP ML phones are waterproof thou. My complaint was that it took so long to get them....... only to find out same ole phones. Which by the way had they used the CTX connector we could have bought the CTX phones immediately. I think since the phones were an accessory rather than coming with the machine they could have done better in this area........ we arent diving with these.

I don't have gray ghost headphones but this adapter worked with my rat phones. They are not wireless. The only problem is the connection is not as snug as I would like and now and again it pulls out a little bit and you lose connection. I think if I use some electric grease or just some electrical tape to keep its snug it will be fine. For the price and two day shipping it's worth having as a backup even though I use it all the time.
