I have wanted to find one of the Elizabeth 1953 Coronation medallions for a couple of years now. And Of course I found two within a month. This hobby can be so amusingly ironic at times. :detecting:
I poped a pic of the second medallion (that I found today) and the very first coronation medallion that I've ever found. A 1911 George fifth and queen Mary. It was found with my old ACE 250 in a field were an old North West Mounted Police depot once stood. I found that medallion doubly facinating because someone used it for target practice and nailed it with a pistol shot. Now I have to find a George sixth coronation medallion. He was the stutterer in the movie ''The Kings speach'' and he died of lung cancer I believe.....B.T.W., I got tired of that stinkfoot avatar and switched to my longest used name.

WOW! Fan-dang-tabulous!:clapping: It is funny how certain things get found...how it cycles or something...I dont know...sort of wierd

Nice finds, up north. Too bad someone used one for target practice.

Ya, I am of mixed feelings with that one. She had a plow ding also so it wasn't pristine anyway, but....... Kind of the feeling I get when I pop up say a 1909 quarter and realize that I scratched it. I did that to the eagle side of my only S.L.Q. that I found up here. Arrrrrrgh !

Very cool finds, especially given the location. :beers:

I've scratched a few coins like that myself. I slow down and I'm much more careful now-a-days. I'd hate to find a rare or valuable coin and scratch it up.
