Not much need for running iSat in inert soil, but for areas with high mineralization the iSat can really save the day but helping to eliminate false signals. Always run the iSat as low as possible.
 
Higher ISAT ("Self Adjusting Threshold") may need the user to resort to a faster sweep speed to detect the deeper target, as it retunes too fast at max. setting.

A faster SAT setting and fast sweep speed can be good in organized seeded treasure hunts where targets are very shallow.
