IS YOUR FAVORITE SPOT REALLY HUNTED OUT?

GRAY GHOST

New member
hey everybody, the answer is yes ... and no. im very curious as to what you all would say about this topic, so feel free to comment. thanks, and hh

A good spot is never truly hunted out. So many reasons I will not go in to that here.
But mostly coil cone is responsible. Turn a triangle up side down and see the pointed area..Thats some what a fair picture of your detecting area at depth. Plus ground heave..etc etc missing coins not overlapping..on and on and on...

Ha gray Ghost,

One of my favorite places to hunt is arguably the most hunted city park in the state of Arkansas. It has a long and diverse history.

I started back MDing 6 months ago after a 24 year layoff. In that time I have only found 3 silver coins. Two of them were in that park. I've found Wheaties and older nickles. I've found artifacts there. But the best of it is, I have pulled several pieces of gold jewelery out of the playground there.

I always try out my new MS's at one of my favorite spots there, not a playground. It is a challenge but I don't think these Arky's around here can even pronounce the word "Tesoro"

That gives me just enough of an edge that I can always pull something out of there.

That being said, I have enough confidence, I think I can pull gold out of any high traffic tot lot.

Parks are the most hunted places around here. I get most of my booty in those parks.

If you learn your metal detector, doesn't matter what kind it is, you can recover finds at heavily hunted places.

There's a good reason they are heavily hunted. They produce good finds.

It helps to do some research and see if you can find out something most people don't know. For example there was a horse race track in this park I've been talking about and I don't know of anybody that knows that. That's where I found my first silver dollars 24 years ago. The Indians were ushered through there during the Trail of Tears. You would think people would know that but they don't.

That's what makes this hobby tick.

Here comes 2008,

Last year I didn't start hunting till July stayed with the Troy X5 for most hunts in parks it was not a good summer to get people out as it rained most weekends but ended the year with 5 gold rings 1 being a 22K US coin ring , 12 silver rings , 8 silver chains & pendants, and 357.89 in clad can't wait for a good summer here in Vancouver BC . Dan

Troy X5's are hard to come by around here. It's on my wish list.

I do have a Euro Sabre however, and love it.

I'm guessing you'er saying thoes parks arn't hunted out. lol

Sounds like you enjoy our hobby:)

I do to. I didn't relly get started until October of 2007.

I recovered 2 gold rings and over a dozen other rings, mostly silver. Maby 30 or so ear rings, 30 or so pendants. One pendant was covered with small diamonds. There was a couple small rubys. A few more small diamonds. Some of the pendants and ear rings were gold. I found parts of 3 gold chains and a few silver chains.

All this was in "Hunted Out Parks".

I feal very lucky to be able to participate in this hobby. It's lots of fun:)

That Troy unit must love the jewelry..Great finds...

Not a chance ! I thought it would have been and have been told by others it was and also went to the park with other hunters and found very little. I have since taken my time and hunt slowly and have found plenty to keep me intrested. I have never seen another hunter when there myself. I believe people think the 600 acre's in the middle of a city incorp in 1760 is hunted out. BS !!! Both the woods and the fields have produced coins from the 1700's to state quarter's 6" deep.
