Is this some kind of medal? Can anyone identify the symbol?

...Hi Jay, any other clues. What kinda site was it found at. What does the back of this object look like? What kind of metal, plated brass, tin? Are the colors porcelan or enamel, or paint?
The term for the lion is "Lion Rampant" and is widely used for arms, crests, heraldry, etc... Bulgaria, Scotland, Belgium and many more use a lion rampant with a crown, but none match the features of your lion: tail, mane, etc...
The crown appears to be British, most likely the State crown of Victoria (1850's-1900), though I don't think your badge is that old.
I could be way off here Jay, but from the pic and the artwork, the badge looks like mass produced stamped tin, maybe from the 1950's Puts me in mind of an emblem from a dart board set or something like that.... <img src="/metal/html/shrug.gif" border=0 width=37 height=15 alt=":shrug">
