Is it possible to mount a small bulb like a Christmas tree bulb to the lower shaft and plugged into the phone jack so when you go over a target it would light up??

Years ago there was a product called a Knight Light that did exactly that. I don't remember if it plugged into the phone jack, but that would make sense. Planning on some clandestine hunting? :D

Which means to use the phones I have to remove it and if someone speaks to me I shut down and put the aid in to hear what they said. Its a pain and just looking for a solution.

somebody sells those specificly for deaf people . ill try and find it.

Don't mount it as close to the coil as you show in your image. We detect "up" as far as we do "down".

Sorry to hear that.

Well, the thing works but wont give you any differences as sound do, deep, smooth, hard.

I,d go with leds rather then vibes though, maybe some guy can make a five row led light bar that can be mounted ontop of the housing sensitive enough to give u the impression of deep, smooth, hard if one to five leds light up according to signal.

Hmmmm, I sence an invention, good luck.......

Radioschack also has a twin coupling so u can have both a headphone and the light on. Try making a single ear headphone and keep your hearing gear in one ear, just a thought, I have no idea what it is like.

Good hunting.

Look at the Rattler headphone from DetectorPro. It has a single earcup that would allow you to keep your hearing aid in while also being able to use the headphones.

I was only joking about the clandestine hunting. :D

About 2 years ago I saw a webpage that had an LED that, when plugged into the phone jack and a a target is located, it would light up.

Anyway, I tried to build one, and then optimized it with 3 LEDs of different colors. It was possible to tell the strength of the signal by the number of LEDs that lit up.

I did this on a BH 101 machine, and that was the only machine I owned at the time. I was also very green in detecting.

I am sure I could do the same thing again. I am going to do it this weekend if I don't get called by any of my detecting buddies.

I'll post when I am done.
