Is this normal with my relic??

So I've noticed that after findING a target and picking my machine up after filling a home, that when I'm sliding my arm through the cuff and positioning my hand, I'm getting alot of popping and high pitched very tiny pops.
Is it because of the ground tracking adjusting from the coil pointing perpendicular while down to it going back to parallel?
I honestly just realized that may be the case and should try with the tracking off haha but just wondering if anyone else has similar experience. Settings:
DI3, swns-70-80, iron volume 0, id mask 25, imask 0, and machine was ground balanced 3 beeps.

how heavy is the detector ? do you need the strap? they seem pretty twitchy this brand I know mine is, but just have to work around it, they are a new company they have a lot to learn I give them 5 stars for having a go and the detectors will get better with time.

I have no complaints about the detector. I think it's just the ground tracking.
It's definitly the deepest machine I own. Also don't think I need to be running the sensitivity so high. 50 is more tHan enough I think. Had it already set there from some farm hunting I was doing.

like is said spend 100 hrs with it and if you come home with questions and if I don't with a new detector I havnt been paying attention, you will learn as I will learn how best to set the thing up for any given situation.

these detectors like I said they are twitchy and finding the sweet spot might take a bit more work than a Tesoro those things are pretty bullet proof.

nothing like time with a detector and its the only thing we cant buy we have to earn that

Yep, time and more time.
Been getting a lot of time with my compadre which is why I'm so food with it. Starting getting some time with the cibola post mod, but have to put some time in with that relic. I know it's great, but just have to learn it.

They say a bad detector in a good Detectorist hands is still good.

But a great detector in an unfamiliar detectorists hands doesn't make it any better

Yep, most likely because the coil was not pointed at the ground and had nothing to "track". The machine quiets down when hunting the ground.
Good luck on your adventure with the Relic. It will take you a little bit of time to figure it out coming from a Tesoro but you will learn it.

I already love it. Just need to learn it's language. Deep as anything plus some lol.
Got the new 10x5.5 but can't find a coil cover. Considering getting the Makro cover for their same size coil. Waiting to either hear from someone or from nokta to confirm if it will work.

but I will share these reminders from the User Manual, and it is what I have expressed to people for many years with other brands with similar features.

Page 3, top right:

Adjust the height of the shaft so that you are standing in an upright position, your arm is
relaxed and the search coil is approximately 5cm (~2'') above the ground.

Page 18:

For better performance, we recommend you to use Ground Tracking in the General Search
mode and not in the discrimination (DI2, DI3, COG, DEP and SWT) modes.

I use the automated GB or I manually GB these detectors, and very seldom use the tracking function. When I do, it is only in the GEN All Metal mode. Working the coil too close to the ground, or using tracking in a motion-based Discriminate mode can impair performance and cause some audio performance problems.

That's monte.
I agree that is was probably the ground tracking causing it because once I had the coil back into search position, it stopped. I think it was the tracking adjusting from its setting with the coil pointing perpendicular while digging to me picking up the detector and putting arm in with coil parallel to the ground. The slight chatter was the machine recalibratin to the ground.

Kind of like with a tesoro when you are thumbing the disc knob while sweeping to identify and when you turn the dial the detector kind of false a beep during the turn.

I think it's just the circuitry making a change which comes out as slight signals.

I don't have bad ground or have ground that changes so I'll probably run the tracking off. I thought I was but not sure how it turned back on haha.

I definitly recommend that everyone read any manuals for their detectors. I've hunted with people that are having an issue that's clearly outlined in the manual, but they either didn't read it or they skimmed enough to where they think they have an understanding.

I.E. garrett ACE machines:
Sometimes, and I'm not sure why, they will start to beep erratically and even lowering sensitivity won't help. Most think it's broken and in some cases it is the coil being bad.
But 8/10 times they can do a factory reset and it's fine.
Reminds me of back when I first had dish or when I had my first smartphone. It would act up and the first think that the tech people wold say in either case is reboot the phone/unplug the box for 2 minutes.
Nt sure if it cleared the memory or what but almost always fixed the problem.
With all the circuitry nowadays, sometimes signals just get crossed or something and you just have to reboot.

On a side not, this factory reset should also be done when changing coils because when you do this it "learns" the coil again and kind of tunes them together.
But because people have changed them and not had any issues they don't know that this should he done for optimal performance of said coil.

Anyway, thank you monte and I'll definitely it'll run tracking off. I haven't hued in Gen mode yet. Too much in the ground lol.

I always enjoy your insightful posts and their thorough nature. :)

Just an update. It was the ground tracking.
As soon as I turned it off it ran quiet again.
:) now that I know what it is I can use the ground tracking again!!

Concentric or DD design, and white for Nokta or black for Makro, are the same size and will interchange and fit just fine.

Thanks monte. Yeah u picked up the rc26 makro one. Fits ok. Not perfect but we'll enough.
