but I will share these reminders from the User Manual, and it is what I have expressed to people for many years with other brands with similar features.
Page 3, top right:
Adjust the height of the shaft so that you are standing in an upright position, your arm is
relaxed and the search coil is approximately 5cm (~2'') above the ground.
Page 18:
For better performance, we recommend you to use Ground Tracking in the General Search
mode and not in the discrimination (DI2, DI3, COG, DEP and SWT) modes.
I use the automated GB or I manually GB these detectors, and very seldom use the tracking function. When I do, it is only in the GEN All Metal mode. Working the coil too close to the ground, or using tracking in a motion-based Discriminate mode can impair performance and cause some audio performance problems.

That's monte.
I agree that is was probably the ground tracking causing it because once I had the coil back into search position, it stopped. I think it was the tracking adjusting from its setting with the coil pointing perpendicular while digging to me picking up the detector and putting arm in with coil parallel to the ground. The slight chatter was the machine recalibratin to the ground.
Kind of like with a tesoro when you are thumbing the disc knob while sweeping to identify and when you turn the dial the detector kind of false a beep during the turn.
I think it's just the circuitry making a change which comes out as slight signals.
I don't have bad ground or have ground that changes so I'll probably run the tracking off. I thought I was but not sure how it turned back on haha.
I definitly recommend that everyone read any manuals for their detectors. I've hunted with people that are having an issue that's clearly outlined in the manual, but they either didn't read it or they skimmed enough to where they think they have an understanding.
I.E. garrett ACE machines:
Sometimes, and I'm not sure why, they will start to beep erratically and even lowering sensitivity won't help. Most think it's broken and in some cases it is the coil being bad.
But 8/10 times they can do a factory reset and it's fine.
Reminds me of back when I first had dish or when I had my first smartphone. It would act up and the first think that the tech people wold say in either case is reboot the phone/unplug the box for 2 minutes.
Nt sure if it cleared the memory or what but almost always fixed the problem.
With all the circuitry nowadays, sometimes signals just get crossed or something and you just have to reboot.
On a side not, this factory reset should also be done when changing coils because when you do this it "learns" the coil again and kind of tunes them together.
But because people have changed them and not had any issues they don't know that this should he done for optimal performance of said coil.
Anyway, thank you monte and I'll definitely it'll run tracking off. I haven't hued in Gen mode yet. Too much in the ground lol.
I always enjoy your insightful posts and their thorough nature.
