Is this GOLD? Probably.....Ace 250

Back to the race track.....and back to the bleachers.
Two days (total of ten hours) and I think I cleaned the place out.
After five hours my back ached so bad I had to stop.

Laying right on the top was the shine of gold...maybe, but I don't
think so. There may be some gold in it but not much. Some lady
high up in the bleachers dropped her ear ring. When I ran the coil over
it it rang in in the pull tab/.5 cent area. This is the only piece of
jewelery I have found in the bleachers or anywhere else at the track.

I tried the jewelery mode but the machine went off like a machine gun,
rat ta ta tat, all over the place; I ended up going back to coin mode with
the little sniper coil did a great job.

One thing though, I noticed that the recovery time was really slow.
I would have to slow down on the sweep and go over the ground three or four times in the same
place before the machine would WAKE UP and tell me there was a coin there. I may
have to invest in the AT Pro soon! HAS ANYONE ELSE NOTICED this issue with the Ace 250 recovery time?

Earring judging where it registered on the meter is perhaps a faker but it looks like you got some gas money.

Ace 250 is a lot of bang for the buck and certainly does the job but comparing to Garretts top of the line models you will find they are better units...

A person with a slower sweep speed will get more good finds then someone who swings a coil like a mad man. If that earring is gold, it should have a stamp on it showing it's purity ie 10K, 14K etc. Good luck!

A friend detecting a saltwater N.J. shore found what looked like a gaudy faker...certainly looked like one as it had a sort of copper color and large stones..Turned out to be a turn of the century Russian gold ring with a large diamond and two rubies.... only your jeweler knows for sure...and foreign jewlery especially old is not always marked, but in your case bet its junk.....better luck next time...as you never know what the next swing will bring.....

Yeah, it can be slow in some ground. Also, trash next to it will cause a delay. I have found coins where a faster sweep speed would've missed them. After recovering the coins, I reswept the area, looked at the screen, and sure enough the iron icon was lit up. Strangely, I'm not sure that it's what everyone thinks it is as I have, while in coins mode, gotten a belltone and a standard tone almost simultaneously and it turned out to be a dime next to a nickel. As John said, there's no telling what people are missing with a fast sweep-with the Ace or ANY machine. Just look up Monte's posts on Tesoro-a machine that everyone takes as a fast sweep detector. I have had the same thing happen with my Silver umax as with my Ace. Delayed signals can be a blessing, as they immediately tell you what kind of ground and trash content you're in.
