Hi An old fellow gave this to me to see if I could find out more about it. It looks just like the rosette with the US but it has the cannons. It is not lead filled and looks as if it were fasten with rivets or possible screws. Would appreciate some info so I can give it back to him with what is it , where used and how much it may be worth..Looks like it was never dug.

That's the ordnance department and the style of the piece probably does coincide with WWI as Mike said. Still a neat piece.

If the size is 2" x 1-1/8" it is probably from a harness bit. I have a similar piece, but marked US, instead of the artillery piece on the side. Mine still had what was left of the rusty rivets, when I found it. I would like to find the entire bit, but in a farm field, it's probably pretty much destroyed.
