Is this an iron thimble?

It has the shape of a thimble, but it is a third smaller then my other thimbles. It has cast seams on the side. I have been searching the web and I am not sure. I e-mailed the pictures to a thimble expert and I am waiting for her response.

This shows the size difference. It barely fits on the tip of my little finger.

I am near Morgantown, WV. What part of W. PA. are you from?
This thing is hard to get clean. I tried my best to get some good pictures.

I don't know if the hole was on purpose or just rust through.

This chip was on the side with the hole.

It fits inside the other thimble nicely.

Makes me feel kind of dumb. This is what the thimble expert said:,

Hi - the one on the left is brass rather than copper. I do have that thimble in my collection. It is from the 1940s-1960s. Value, as is, about $3-$5. The one on the right is questionable, as there doesn't seem to be the knurling that would be required to hold a needle in place. Although there seems to be some sort of design in the first picture, I'm not so sure when I look at the third picture. It does seem to have a rolled or raised rim, but I can't tell how thick the thimble shape is. It almost looks to have a seam up the side. I could be a 1950s premium type thimble like those in the Monopoly game. It could be pewter. It is smaller than a normal size, so could be a doll thimble. I'm sorry I can't tell you more definitive information without seeing/holding the one on the right. If it is a thimble, it isn't in good shape and would have little value to a thimble collector. Is it possible it might have been a small bell? You know cat, dog type? Just wondering here, Beale.
