Found this at a colonial cellar hole this past summer when hunting with buddy Bruce..he noticed ONE CENT right off,but im kinda off on the 20-20 when it comes to sight..anyways if you look close enough in center left a tad you will see "O' for one and below left the "C" for cent.Appears to be made of some type of white metal and in other pic you can see where it seems to be splitting in half.It def says ONE CENT and looks like a possible line under "cent"..didnt find much else at cellar hole to really help age area..but road is one of first in area thats only used for logging now...possibly very early 1800s...and other side has nothing legible

Kinda looks like a burnt coin. I found a penny once that had been in a fire and it was thick like that.

Didnt notice any evidence of fire..and what ever this is, its actually thinner than large cent ..so not sure..probaly old time play coin for kids..

Burnt coin would have been my guess too. That or counterfeit, but who counterfeits a penny lol?

i have found two burnt coins, and hooked them up with my homemade electrolysis cleaner. it took the cooked off, and left a thin piece of the coin. nothing ventured, nothing gained so to speak. tossed the remains in my melt pile. it could have just a bad crust, i would go for a electo clean.

Best way to get images of coins is with a flatbed scanner or scanner on an all-in-one printer...

HH,

Could be a hard times token they did make tokens that looked allot like large cents and may have made them from different materials. It looks like its has the one cent in the middle just like a LC.
That is about the only things that were the same on hard times tokens ,,and then all different types of sayings around that.

also, as oyu can see, there is a line under the word CENT in the real coin.

Even though it says one cent on it dont think a coin as was trying to see how flexible metal was and fairly flexible and started to crumble a little so left it alone for now...thanks to all replying...Curt
