Is this a chunk of " Fools " Gold ?

kind of looks like it.
scrape it against a hunk of un-glazed ceramic. If it leaves a black mark be sad. If it leaves a gold mark start doing the prospectors dance.

When I first got a metal detector with a manual ground balance,
I was noticing how I could pick up mineralized rocks if I set the
MGB in a paticular way.

I was in a tot lot at the time and came up with this.

Fool's Gold or Pyrite, a mineral, often called iron pyrite, is an iron
sulfide.

It will not normally respond to a metal detector. The only reason
I found this piece is because I had my Manual Ground Balance
out of wack.

Happy Hunting,
