The other day I found this in a friend's yard.

Yesterday I went back there and found this copper can thing.

Does any one know what it is??

Thanks for looking,

it is a cool find. Don't think it's a copper drinking cup. Base would be well soldered. Cannister (can's) are tinned iron sheeting. About the size of a beer can for the 3" rifled gun (cannon). Get a copy of Mason & McKee's "bullet book" and look at the artillery section. Will help you understand the cannister, grape, case shot etc. Keep digging your site. No telling what will come out of there.

Hay David, thanks for responding.

It well could be a drinking cup.

It is very well soldered and air tight.

It is cool.

I have it on my dresser and am puting jewelry finds in it
temporarily until I can take photos and clean and store.

Some things I find I like for some weard reason.

Like my WW I hand granade pin. Now what good is that.

I don't know.

But I like it and sometimes carry it around with me.

Tell me the truth David.

Am I sick?? Is there any hope for someone like me??..

Happy Pack Rat...:detecting:,
