Is there anybody ~not~ finding gold?

I've been watching the posts of people who are getting some great gold jewelry on the beaches. I love seeing all the pics of big gold rings and such because it's inspiring.

I haven't found gold on a beach for about two years. Tons of clad and a fair number of pieces of silver jewelry but no gold for what seems like a long time.

So what I'm wondering is if I'm the only one not finding gold or are there are others who haven't found gold for a while.

It's been a while for me - I say my last gold was almost a year ago and it was a small thin ring. I don't hunt beaches, just a few parks once in awhile. I mostly hit open lots and fields, and some areas up in the hills for relic. I have been thinking of hitting one of the local lakes when the weather cools. The lake level is low now, so maybe after the weather cools and before the water level starts to raise. They charge some stupid amount just to enter so I hope it is worth it. I would think there should be some gold in them thar waters somewhere.

and site selection. I have been hunting a couple of local ocean beaches, one of them seems like it should be productive, but I have not found any gold there yet. Perhaps the currents carry it down the beach beyond where I regularly detect. Not really sure where the gold is, but the ppl I have talked to said they have found little or no gold at this beach either. The other beach is about 6 miles away, and I have gotten 2 gold rings, a gold pendant, several silver rings and what appears to be a white gold name plate in the last few weeks. I have spent probably less than half the amount of time at this "productive" beach. If you are finding the coins and silver jewelry, take a good look at what ppl are wearing to that beach. Are they wearing the gold or not? Like Rick said, you gotta tip those scales in your favor. The guys who are getting the great finds on a regular basis are putting a lot of time in, and have great beaches for all those people wishing to deposit their gold. Do you put in a lot of time, or go once in a while? Time is on your side, and the gold is going to be coming your way......

I don't find alot of gold, but I can't hunt more than 1-2 hours due to a bad back.
I've found its best to maximize your possibilities by hunting only where the gold should be.

Try these tips:
o hunt only wet sand at low tide
o hunt only beaches that are well used and preferrably on a holiday weekend
o scout the beach during the busy hours and see where the majority of crowd are swimming, it changes each day.

If you hunt a place at low tide where many people were swimming the previous day,
your odds are very high of scoring gold.

I do this because I have no choice. Other detectorists think I have very good
luck considering how little time I detect. Its not luck, I have no choice
since I am not able to spend the whole day scouring the entire ocean front.

Good Luck!
