But, how do I know when I can post a detector for sale here?
Thanks,
Chuck,Diggin'it in Florida

Chuck, the only way I keep track is click on my user name, show all posts and go look at the last time I posted a detector for sale That's the way I do it.......MO

It looks to me like your last "for sale" post was 01/20/10. So it looks like you have to wait another month. Then again last fall, a guy sold one in August, one in September and one in October.

But I'm just a member and not anybody with any authority.

I would like to know myself. I occasionally post a detector for sale and over the last couple of years I have had at least three removed. One time I received a real nasty email to go along with the removal. Like one of the other posters mentioned, I have seen others sell multiple detectors with no problems. These were not sponsors either. I don't know if who they were made a difference or not. Anyway, I would just like to see some consistency and fairness. I am not trying to beat the system, I just may not always be right to the day of the three months, but neither is a lot of other people whose post are not being removed.

If I forget how long it has been since my last sale, prior to posting a detector for sale, I send an e-mail to the admins asking if I can put it on the classifieds.

Most times they say fine, but the last time they informed me they really don't want people flipping detectors every 2 days, so they asked me to wait until next month. No problem for me.

Nothing is cast in stone here.

We don't use a clock & a calender to follow posters around. Beside did it ever dawn on you they may be other circumstances surrounding the people that posted more than once in 90 days ? The first one that comes to mind is "we just don't see it". There is a lot of posting going on here at Finds, and it's very difficult to watch them all, all the time. How about that some multi posters "paid" for that privilege ?? Some have taken the time to do a real unusual thing, They Asked !

Now as far as going over, and not remembering how long, well that's your responsibility. The nasty note you received, well we perhaps get a little testy once in a while, do to the lame excuses we receive. We expect all users to read & follow the statement at the top of the classified pages.

So, which is it? "read & follow the statement at the top of the classified pages"
or Ask and get special treatment?
I don't mean this in a nasty way at all. But in all fairness, there should be equal rules for all to comply with, asking and getting to list more for sale, because of special permission, is not really all around fair to all forum members.
I'm sure that some members are personally known by the moderator of the Classifieds and a simple "ask" get's them past the rules the rest of us are following.

Chuck

special permission, is not really all around fair to all forum members.

The biggest complainers & whiners are the member users that don't participate in the regular forums with constructive post. (please read the statement at the top of the classified forum again. Statement ). They do in turn, manage to certainly like Finds Classified forums. I especially like the excuse, "I'm not a dealer, I just like to buy & sell detectors as a hobby". Well guess what, we consider those people dealers. They want all the listing privileges, but want it for free. Then we have the dealers that list here under a name different from their business. This is just (2) two examples, but they amount to most of the problems. Most others usually don't have a need to sell a detector but (1) one in 90 days. Those are the ones when having a unusual selling request, we grant.

Chuck, you fit into the try & sell category, and because of that, we treat you as a commercial account, so we would uphold the 90 day rule on you. Were mostly all adults here, and I find it quite amusing you would ask for someone to remind them if they reached a selling limit. If you have that many detectors to sell & you are unwilling to pay your way, perhaps this is not the classified forum you need to be on to sell them.

Freddie

? for sflblack . Is a WTB considered a F/S, and under the same catagory?....I sent an e-mail asking and never got a reply.

thanks,Curt

I haven't sold 4 detectors in 3 years, I don't believe.
I have a couple of hundred posts.
I don't know who you are freddy, but you sure ain't a great personality for public discussion of rules!
"Were mostly all adults here, and I find it quite amusing you would ask for someone to remind them if they reached a selling limit."
I didn't ask anyone to remind me if I reached my selling limit-or didn't you read the post before commenting?
I asked if there was a way to know.
When you say "Were mostly all adults here" when you say "mostly" are you excluding yourself, because you can't nicely answer simple questions without getting snotty and mad?
Not a great trait for a "moderator" you need more moderation in your speaking / posting ability.
Anyway, you can drop it now.
I suppose you will get angry at this and ban me?

You are right Dave :)
I had to go back 5 pages in posts to find it. I sold an MXT i'd had for many years!
