Is there a real difference between the Minelab Excalibur 1000 and the II ??

Hey Guys! I have a question for you experienced Minelab Excalibur users out there. Is there a big difference between the minelab Excal 1000 and a 2?? I have a chance to buy a new 1000 in box for $800.00. That sounds like a good deal right..... But im curious if you think that the 2 has new performace enhancing features that are worth paying for??? Or is it just green with a better battery? I appreciate your advice.

Dig, I still use the Excal and have not used the Excal II yet, the battery is a signifcant improvement and the nicad will eventually give you some issues. Minelab has been really good about warranty, when it does fail. Last time to Vegas, I asked how much for the upgrade and the new pod was on B/O. The coil has also been improved using a similar design to the Sov G/T. It is lighter and slightly more sensitive over the BBS. For $800, you can't go wrong though. Has the guy already filled out his warranty card yet? If you could get warranty, that would be a smoking deal, but even without a competitive price for a used Excal. Let us know what you decide.
