Is there a Low Battery Alarm?

Twice I punked with the V3i powering down on me because I had not taken notice to my low battery level. One of those times was a good long walk back to the car to retrieve the extra battery pack. (make note to carry extra battery pack in pouch from now on)

Any ways, is there a low battery alarm that I am missing? I was thinking that there was one, but am not finding it in the menu anywhere.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
DJH

There is no alarm, but there is a low battery icon on the status line. Also you can change the status line to show battery voltage instead of the program name. Rob

Thanks Rob for the info.

Couldn't remember if the V3i had the alarm or if it was my previous detector that I had.

Guess I'll make a change to the status line.

Eyes just aren't what they once were. I have had the same problem and I can't read the status line. Is there a way to increase its size like you can with some other items on the display?

Yes there is a low battery alarm when running tx boost. When the battery pack can no longer keep up with the current and voltage demands you will get the "Dirge song" or funeral march song.

As far as I know this is when the V plays the Dirge. It wouldn't help you know your battery was getting low.

Auto Power - OFF

It will also play it when the batteries can no longer handle the current/voltage demands of TX boost... it has happened 3 times to me and it shut itself off once the other 2 times it turned off tx boost. The alkaline battery pack was the one that shut down completely.

I'll take your word until I find different. I've never had it happen yet. OK guys, I can't find it is suppose to have this happen in the manual. All you guys you have had it happen lets us know. That's how we learn. 1 vote for Burlbark.

I suppose I will have to give TX Boost a try someday, but when the battery gets too low it just shuts the machine off. I do notice that it gets very noisy about two minutes before shutdown though.

When your V3 begins to behave erratically your time is quickly running out. I have "pushed the envelope" a few times and can tell you from experience that it begins with occasional "falsing" which gets continually worse and then it seems like the EMI is increasing until it becomes unbearable. When you start to get the falsing, you have less than 30 minutes left. If you want to prolong it, lower your screen brightness and if you run with your volume and threshold at higher levels, lowering the levels will help a bit too.
