Is There A Better Detector For The Price?

Just received my Garrett Ace 150 yesterday, used it for alittle while and find it ok but very nasty on the pinpointing. Is there a better detector than the Ace 150 or Ace 250 at about there same price?I never hunt beaches or on sand only detect on school grounds, playgrounds, people's yards.Looking forward to all your suggestions. Thanks! Steve. P.S. Doesn't have to be fancy and can be any brand, just want it good on finding coins.

You should have bought the ACE 250 because of it's pinpointing feature. You will probably need that feature if you are going to hunt peoples yards, as you need to dig a small hole to retrieve the coin. Keep the 150 as a backup. You can learn to pinpoint accurately by make repeated X's over the target, but it takes some practice. And no, there is no other detector better for the (small) price then the ACE 250, which has bells and whistles that are on machines costing 2-400 dollars more.

Good luck!

If you had the 250 it has pinpoint on it and it's dead on. If you've never used a detector before you should always get one with pinpoint as X'ing a target with no pinpoint takes considerable practice.

Get a 250 and all your problems will be solved. They sell almost faster than they can make them because they perform like an $800 detector. It will find all the coins you ever want to dig.

Run your sens 2 bars and it'll PP real fine, just X it in, anything over 2 bars it's just got too much power, and 2 bars give plenty depth for coins, unless your'e after deep relics and stuff like that:twodetecting::thumbup::garrett::usmc::usaflag:
I only have one detector with PP button and i don't use it, years back they didn't have em when i started out:usmc:

If there was a better machine than the ace 250 for the price,
I would have bought it. :heh:  :heh:
But yea, the lack of pinpointing would probably drive me
crazy too. It sure is handy to have on a motion ID machine.

Me to BUgar but I learned to like them over the years. I started out with BFO's and we all know how lovely those pinpoint. HAA.

"Better" is a matter of who is doing the judging, experience level, skill, hunting environment and interests, etc. Personally, I think the Tesoro Compadre is the only thing on the market that comes close, but of course it is a non-ID type machine with straight progressive discrimination. The Aces are alot of detector for the money involved where you may need a good ID machine.
