is the x-1 probe when running -16 like really sensative/ falses or is it just mine?

when using -16 iron mask it seems like when im searching for a target in the hole and its not right there my probe just is unstable and falses alot unless i go real slow. if target is withing range then it locks on right away. i often have to turn the sensativity way down to stabilize. anyone know what im talking about or is it my probe. my s-1 probe is no where near that sensative.

when i dig a deep and repeatable lower right smartfind target this probe instability happens alot. i tell myself i am just digging iron falses when i get to about 9-10 inches with no good probe signal. or am i not digging enuff. i recheck spot and sometimes they still ring in sometimes they dont. anyone know what im talking about here. im new but im learning.. thanks, guyt.

most stuff in the lower right is tin or steel, iron mask at -16 will pick up on any iron thats attached or nearby.. better off running -15.. my x1 will false more at high sensitivity settings as well

Guy,
You will sometimes get some probe falsing with the X-1 if you are running a high manual sensitivity setting. If that occurs, we recommend that you temporarily push your semi-auto button while making the retrieval, then push back to manual when finished. You will then be ready to switch back to coil and be ready for the next target.

Hey Guy,
My probe is the same way.
I have to keep my probe turned down to a maximum senstivity of 24 or else it goes crazy. But if I am operating in wet grass, the probe goes apesh** anyway, so I have to turn it down even further.
Also, the real signals are the signals that are localized to one area and are repeatable, unlike false signals. If you are getting a bunch of falses, you can go into pinpoint mode and look for repeatable pinpoint sounds within your hole.

Hey Guy,
When that happens to me, I just figure that there is surface trash tricking me. Or I figure that I am going after the false signal of iron. This false signal will exist in free space out away from the iron. That's why you dig down deep and find nothing. So I just figure the object is real shallow and off to the side, or the object is deeper and off to the side. I just enlarge hole diameter starting at the top of the hole and progressing downwards. For some reason, that almost never happens to me anymore, but it sure as heck did when I was first learning the explorer!

i know im digging falsies and iron halos but im learning to look for the deepies and was digging iffy targets, but i trying to learn what the lower right targets ment. i like the -16 cause there is no null like on the sov, kinda scans the ground completly but i think its hits on mineralization too. no problem though, i dont mind. thanks for the tips.
