Is the Whites Eagle a good detector and

I believe the Eagle was made in the late 80's through the very early 90's? Friend of mine runs an Eagle II and does very well!

1987. It was 'OK' but they made some revisions and brought out the Eagle II in '88. They did make an 'update chip' available for the original Eagle, but most I spoke with back then and since said the performance wasn't all the same.

The original Eagle came with an 8" coil and isn't compatible with the newer Blue Max series of coils. The Eagle II, introduced for 1988, came with the Blue Max 950 coil, as did the 6000 Di Pro. The Eagle II SL gave us a better balanced configuration, and then that was replaced by the Eagle Spectrum.

Your assesment is 100% correct Monte.. I have the original eagle with the eagle II update chip.. This is a very good set-up, and gets pretty deep too..6-7 inches on a penny / dime with accurate target ID is no problem at all for this unit.. just purchased a 256 wide scan coil for the detector, that should give another me another 2+ in depth.. I like this unit alot..
