Is the Tesoro Umax 10x12 inch coil worth it?

Brendan

New member
Hey guys,
I have a Tesoro Silver umax on a boat somewhere between America and Australia and am looking at buying a 10x12 inch concentric coil for it.
Do you guys think it's worth the money?
Cheers,
Brendan

Brendan,

A bit deeper than the stock coil with more coverage BUT productivity may be lost with more (junk) simultaneous targets under the coil. Better suited to open terrain with minimal trash.

Really depends on what you are trying to find and where.

Did you buy the Silver umax second hand?

Tony,
Also in Australia.

I think it works great on the Silver uMax. I say 4" deeper than the brown do-nut. Also sensitive enough to pick up thumb tacks and 22 projectiles no problem. Quiet too. Accurate to pinpoint with. I use another detector for deep stuff, and for covering loads of ground my favorite is the CleanSweep. Have not put the 10x12 on in almost a year, but it is a smooth operator. Sometimes when I was bored and needed a silver find, I would put the 10x12 on the Silver uMax and turn the DISC and SENS to max, pass up obvious can signals, and dig silver jewelry, and quarter or bigger. Hit a silver quarter at 12" with that combo.

that's too deep Diggler :lmfao: i like the sound of it finding silver though might have to run it over after the cleensweep and see what pops up God knows i have cleaned the small bits of foil out its hard work so better be something else there or i am going to

Pros; Its adds quite a bit of depth and more coverage.
Cons; its very noisy in trash (falses a lot) and more difficult to pinpoint.

Tony is right, best suited for beaches and open terrain.

Thanks for the advice guys.
Tony, I got it second hand off ebay for $200 in good nick.
For me, it comes down to this: Cleansweep, 11" or 10x12" coil.
At this stage I'm leaning to the 10x12, but I'm not sure yet.
Cheers,
Brendan

I just ordered the CleanSweep for my Troy Shadow X2...Me and diggler are going to make a full CleanSweep of our local lake...diggler has been making some amazing finds with his CleanSweep...Covers a heck of a lot of ground and he dosen't miss much...

I used the 12x10 on several machines and the only one that was noisy was the Cortes, even in all metal, mo matter how you ground balanced. Whisper quiet on Silver uMax in my experience.
