Is the Super 12 worth buying for the V3

I have seen a few topics about the Super 12 Coil but not many. I own the D2 and a 6x10. Live in Wisconsin and am thinking of buying a Super 12 for my v3. Want it for old parks to go deep. But need to know if it will go deeper than a D2 and by how much. If someone has one and has experience using it vs. the d2 could they please post a quick reply? Thanks, Todd.

I just checked around on previous posts. Seems that people really like it in clean areas with low to medium mineralization. (I'm down to wanting only more coils for the V3 and the Super 12 is one.)

Just here to bump this question. (Same need to here from people who have a lot of experience with this coil.) Is it worth it?
Wish I could have been able to answer CH but I'm in the same boat and was offered a used one an hour ago!

I have used the super 12 quite a bit. I really like it because you can cover alot of ground and the pinpointing is dead on. On depth,..I would give the advantage to the super 12. I havent really done a comparison as different grounds and targets play a role but I have found some pretty deep stuff with the super 12. In my opinion, I think it has a couple of inches advantage over the D2 with all things being equal.

I own a Super 12, along with the D2, and Eclipse 5.3 and 950 coils. As Magic says the Super 12 certainly has its advantages. You can cover more ground with it. Another application is when you have a thick turf or ivy that makes sweeping close to the ground impractical.

My own observation in the field is that the Super 12 is very sensitive to EMI and ground minerals. The farm field I have been detecting is low to moderate in both of these. When I used the Super 12, I had to lower my RX and both the Discriminate and All Metal sensitivities quite a bit to stop the false signals and keep it stable. Any depth advantage was lost by the lower settings. The only advantage was the larger sweep area. Based on this, the D2 would be a better choice allowing both a larger sweep area and higher sensitivity in these conditions.

I think a better choice for a second coil would be a smaller coil for trashy areas, such as the 4x6 DD or the 5.3 Eclipse.

Just my opinion!

Thanks guys, I purchased One from Kellyco today. With shipping, lower rod and Cover it was about $270. If I don't like it I can post it on Ebay and get most of my money back out of it. I had a SEF 15x12 DD for the v3 and really didn't like it compared to the D2. No depth advantage from what I could see. Also the 6x10 didn't impress me as much as I have read either other than a little more separation.
I had purchased a 10x14 ExCellerator for my DFX when I owned it and fell in love with it. That was not a DD coil either. But it pounded the stock 950 for depth and found many deep target with it.
I will post what i find with my test bed for depth diff and separation. I will be looking into a 5.3 as well. That sounds like a good little coil for trash
