Is the Safari a repackaged Quattro?

I had a Quattro when they came out that had a software glitch. If you laid a nail on the ground and put gold rings beside the nail and swept the coil while in a ferrous mode hitting the nail first it would lock on the iron tone and not pick up the good target unless you stopped the coil for it to re-set. So my question is the Safari the same as the Quattro, if it is or isn't does it suffer from the same problems? Thanks

From what I have read, the Safari has a slightly faster processor than the Quattro but apart from that difference, they are virtually the same. I have never owned a Quattro so I haven't personally tested it against a Safari. I'll do the nail test and report back! I was going to do the test today but forgot! What metal detector do you have now? and have you done any testing yourself?

Goldstrike said it right..
The filtering system is improved and changed around from Low to HIgh as a default.
Some other software improvements and the new 'Pro' coil from E Trac.

I never had much time for it, despite giving it it's name!
Having said that, a 'seasoned Pro' I know gave up is E Trac for it, but probably had more to with bad ergonomics and poor eyesight!
Safari's screen is big and better, and as the old Carlsberg advert says, "Probably the best meter ID of all the Minelab's"
It wouldn't be my choice to buy: get an E Trac.

I used explorer's before, tried the Quattro and didn't like it, been using the 3030 but that's out of many peoples price range. Curious to see the results of the nail test. Thanks guys

Saw a guy on YouTube lay 2 nails on top of a coin and the safari pro coil sounded off on the coin with every swing. Look up minelab safari on YouTube,it's there.
