is the ma ma intended?

Folks, i got my machine back. Fisher was very kind in replacing a bunch of parts on it probably practically rebuilding it. It has the ma ma in disc though, in which i usually hunt. I have a friend who uses a different brand machine and i hear him ma maing all the time when pinpointing. I mean is the ma ma electronically another way and or voice for operating a pinpoint feature? Or is it there as a problem? It helps to raise the coil, but in a quick normal pinpoint swing it sounds across a very long arc. Too powerful in a sense. Ive heard some the 75ltd units brand new however dont ma ma. Mine was a very old camo. I may consider talking to them about it. I will get outside (2 feet of snow here) in a parking lot with some coins to test it. If they can hone that back more towards the way it was pinpointing before the upgrade Id be happier. Any input? CO

Your machine is not supposed to make the ma ma sound, I was told that the upgrade was not compatible with one minor electrical component. Just contact FT and tell them the problem they will send you a shipping label for you to return the detector and they will replace the incompatible part.

When you call them ask for extension 112 that in the upgrade extension.

FT tec#1: you know some of the upgraded machines have the MaMa bug, should we check this one we just upgraded?
FT tec#2: Naaaah, they can send it back if it has the MaMa bug.

Thanks for the input. I just got it yesterday. I will contact them. I think what they are doing is an amazing thing. I love the machine for its prowess, and lite weight. With the extended warranty i dont imagine ever getting another, unless there is some whole industry wide event that radically improves the technologies. I own two other Fisher models. Im going out now (the sun is out) to experiment with the pinpoint, Thanks, CO

Man ,I hope mine doesn't come back like that. I will be pi$$ed , but then again it's covered. It's just the whole hassle of shipping back and forth. GS

On most early modes the ma ma was only noticed when pin pointing if you were in the tone selection of 2L or 2H.
Call them and they should offer to fix it.
It will pinpoint but a bit weird sounding.

Ok thanks, Saw the video and as I am really new to the F75 and am in the learning mode (I used the 4h only and never have used those tones(, I never was aware of the difference. So, as I have sent mine back to deal with the lack of depth issue (11-14), I dont know if mine has that problem or not. Does it really have any effect on anything other than the sound or the does it have other effects?

Thank you linking that video.

I was wondering what the MaMa Bug sounded like. That really does say "MA MA".

I'm surprised a recently upgraded machine has the mama bug.

I had to send mine in twice, but they got it squared away and I'm pretty happy w/it now.....it seems to be finding the goods

I made that video once i heard it and discussed with several forum members..i wanted to be sure what i heard is what others were hearing.. Mine was taken care of and is an amazing machine now.

That ma ma sound would drive me directly into the nut house :surprised::blink:
