Is the M6 a good coin shooter?

yes it's good.
all i can tell you is it will beat the heck out of a minelab 30. the 30 would only give a broken tone over my nickel in my test garden. i had no problem getting a solid tone from a m6, cz-5, prizm 2,classic 3. i believe the m6 will produce as much or more than the nickel hot cz-5

buy one and count the coins.

I just got a M6 two weeks ago. I use it basically to coin shoot and jewlery hunt around schools, parks and playgrounds. I have had it out about 12 hours now hunting a School football field and around the school that is hunted alot by 3-4 other guys.

In 8 hours I have gotten over $10.00 in clad, a cheap ring and a really nice 925 ladies silver ring. Last night I had it out about an hour around my complex that I have hunted to death the last 2 years. I got 3 quarters from a 50 foot x 8 section. Doesn't sound like much but they were down over 4" and are so worn you can't read the dates. The M6 does a great job dealing with this NW soil and I was swinging faster then i ever have.

One think I can do with the M6 that I haven't done with the others I own is speed hunt. I have found out that the M6 has given me the confidence to swing a little faster and depend on it for hammering coins quickly. I know that the rest of the year is going to bring me alot of clad to sock away.

I am still on the first set of batteries with it also. They were in the detector when I bought it. After 12 hours it still regiesters at 11 out of 12. Sure going to save me some battery money too. The machine is simple to use, goes deep and has great ID seperation of pennies, dimes and quarters. It also likes nickels and I had had it overload on 3 nickels just under the surface so far. Its really sensitive and easy to control.

"Is the M6 a good coin shooter?"... Designed primarily as a coin hunting unit, the M6 is excellent for coin hunting and holds its own well for relic hunting, too. Heck, it's a simplified MXT with all the power yet simplicity.

"How would you rate it against xterra 50 or id edge machine?"... I've only had limited opportunity to use an ID Edge, but owned an X-Terra 50. The X-Terra 50 worked better for me around here in our mineralized NW Oregon dirt. However, the White's M6 is superior in several ways.

Probably a little late to respond but i haven't seen a lot of posts on the M6 and just got mine so here's my impression for what it's worth.
I had an X Terra 50 and liked it but got tired of waiting for smaller coils and didn't feel it was that good to invest in all the other coils.Had some nice finds with the X Terra but decided to trade it towards an M6 and will never look back with regrets.

Having so much fun, coin hunting with the M6 mainly using the 6"x10" coil i haven't even tried the the stock coil yet. Also been using the 5.3 Eclipse at trashy spots.

Tone ID is great for cherry picking and finding the high tones hidden in the trash. Target separation is similar to the IDX Pro but the sensitivity to smaller objects is more pronounced but miss the all metal ID.

My best find so far has been a 1914 Barber dime and a Delaware Coach Company bus token found about 6" apart in an area infested with hotrocks, foil, canslaw, nails, etc. I had a modified IDx Pro with a snooper coil installed and checked the signal before i dug the Barber and it was more iffy than M6 in my opinion due to the lack of tone ID as the TID's were jumping all over the place but the semi consistant high tone of the M6 prompted the dig.The bus token was the result of digging more iffy signals close to the Dime.I may dig everything in the area at some point but the M6 picked out some nice finds with little effort.

To each their own i guess but the M6 is a super coin or whatever detector in my opinion and been running "zero to ring" disc in tone ID mode most of the time unless the trash is beyond my tolerance.
The brown truck delivered a 4.5"x7"Ecelerator coil today and hope to give it a try over the weekend.

Sorry for the ramble but i feel the M6 is one of the more fun detectors i've used so far. HH Bill

I'm having a great time with my M6. A great detector in my opinion. I'm ready to turn in my clad to silver soon - I'll try to post the pics when I do.
