If you've read the gushing reports on the LTD from Buckeye Brad, Nasa Tom and others, you're probably wondering can the LTD really be that good?
My opinion is oh yes, it sure as heck is!
I've been wanting a F75 long before the LTD was released and following the posts for some time. I finally broke down when I saw a dealer throwing in a nice accessory package along with the LTD package.
Understand that my frame of reference is as someone who never used the previous generation F75.
Got out for a couple 30-45 minute hunts after work during the past week.
Pulled a 1903 nickel and a wheat from a friend's yard that I've pounded hard and had pulled only one wheat the last two times I detected there.
This weekend was more of the same. I pulled a 1909 Barber dime, 2 Washington Quarters, a silver nickel, eight wheats and a couple old keys from the big yard of a long vacant house that I've been detecting hard since I got permission almost a year ago. Another spot that I also considered "hunted out".
All the targets were from 4-9 inches. The iffiest signal was one of the wheat pennies. But for the most part, all the good targets hit hard and solid. The quarters were at 8 and 9 inches and hit harder than I ever would expect from a 9" coin. That ties the deepest coin I've ever dug, and that previous 9" which was also a Washington quarter was an iffy signal.
I'm impressed beyond words by both the extreme depth and incredible separation of this amazing detector. I've got a learning curve ahead, but I've got to say this detector functions very intuitively. Reading and studying a lot of the posts for many months on this forum and Nasa Tom's has helped me a lot. So a big thank you to all who have posted their F75 observations and tips here.
For whatever it's worth, I ran the detector in the boost mode and flipped back to check targets in de for many of the targets. I ran the discrimination from 0-25 and the sensitivity from 40-80. 3 or 4 tones. I was able to run it stable every where I was up to at least 60. An experienced original F75 user may have dug many of those targets in de, but as an inexperienced user I know I would have not dug many of them. The bp mode really improves the signal.
The key for me was swinging sloooow in the bp mode.
I've used several other fine detectors in the past and they all have had their strengths and weaknesses. But I never had a detector that I could say stands head and shoulders above the others, until now.
This detector is all that, and then some.
